Child Therapist Warns Parents About The Dangers Of Not Complimenting Their Daughter

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Jo Swinson, Women's Minister in the UK, urged parents to stop calling their daughters beautiful, claiming that doing so would lead to negative self image and body issues. Since then, additional articles have been written in Psychology Today and other scholarly journals, supporting this claim.

Nikki P. Woods warns that in following this advice, parents can inadvertently be causing more psychological harm then they realize:

"The female mind is wired to notice, analyze and interpret other people's reactions toward her, " said Nikki P. Woods. "It is through these verbal and nonverbal cues that a female establishes her overall sense of identity and value in this world. Removing these essential affirmations can be devastating for the growth and development of a young girl."

Woods is referring to the biological truth that a female's identity is established through her interactions with others. The female brain is acutely aware of every subtle response whether it's words, actions and expressions. Identifying and assessing others' perceptions helps young women gain a greater understanding of their worth.

According to Woods, these following basic truths must be acknowledged:

As parents, Woods stresses that it's important to understand that throughout their developmental years, females thrive when receiving validation from others. This assists in their ability to become self-assured and confident women. Without praise, they spend their lives seeking validation from whoever is willing to provide it.

"This isn't about blindly removing all compliments that focus on a young girl's appearance,"Woods added. "It's simply about tailoring the way we compliment and validate females. Young girls need to hear authentic and specific affirmation regarding all aspects of who they are so they can establish a healthy and positive sense of self."

Austin Capital Bank Announces Launch of Credit Strong

Austin Capital Bank (ACB), a 5-star rated and FDIC-insured independent community bank, today announced the launch of Credit Strong (http://www.CreditStrong.com), the first nationwide credit-building account that combines both an installment loan and an FDIC-insured savings account to help consumers simultaneously build credit and savings.

"Consumers usually build credit by opening up a credit card and then spending on purchases. By opening a Credit Strong account with us, consumers can instead establish or build their credit by setting aside savings," said Erik Beguin, CEO and President, Austin Capital Bank. Read this for more information.

Traditional forms of establishing or building credit such as secured credit cards and credit builder loans require a large upfront cash deposit, yet over 40% of Americans don't have enough cash in savings to cover a $400 unexpected expense, according to a recent study by the Federal Reserve. This lack of savings can make building positive credit a challenge for consumers, potentially trapping them in a vicious cycle of high cost credit.

"Credit Strong makes the ability to build good credit accessible to almost anyone, ranging from working class individuals with an imperfect credit profile and recent graduates who want to start establishing a credit history, to sophisticated users of credit looking to round out their profile with an affordable installment tradeline. With the creation of this new product, we have eliminated the barrier of an upfront security deposit and have also removed the temptation and risk of over-spending that's often associated with credit cards," added Beguin.

With no upfront security deposit, no hard credit inquiry or credit score required, plus low monthly payments, a Credit Strong account makes building credit easy and affordable. Consumers can apply online and be approved in just minutes. Additionally, Credit Strong accountholders receive a free monthly FICO® Score to track their progress. FICO Scores are used in more than 90% of lending decisions, including credit cards, mortgages, and automobile financing.

Here is a short video demonstrating how Credit Strong works:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky5Jbho736A

Here's how it works: During the term of their Credit Strong account, accountholders make a commitment to themselves to set aside savings each month and demonstrate a responsible pattern of on-time repayment that lenders look for when extending credit on favorable terms. At account maturity, Credit Strong users will have up to 24 months of installment payment history reported to the three major credit bureaus and have set aside up to $2,000 in their savings account. Accountholders may close their account at any time with no prepayment or early withdrawal penalty.

The Credit Strong product line builds on Austin Capital Bank's considerable experience in offering consumer accounts that help build household wealth. Since 2016, ACB has helped over 50,000 accountholders build strong credit and savings.

Credit Strong accounts are available exclusively from Austin Capital Bank and its affiliates. Employers, associations, and consumer finance education providers that want to offer credit building and savings programs to their employees, members, users, or followers can partner with Austin Capital Bank through the bank's Credit Strong affiliate programs. Credit Strong is a division of Austin Capital Bank. The Credit Strong account is the first nationwide fusion of credit building and an FDIC insured savings account and is available online 24 hours a day in 47 states.

New App, Parqueo, Launches in Seattle to Solve City’s Parking Problem

Parqueo, a mobile app that lets Seattle locals rent out their privately-owned parking spaces launches on the iTunes and Google Play. The app serves as a platform for parking space owners to market their unused spaces to potential renters, making the process of finding parking easy. Read related news now.

Owners set times and prices for their available parking spaces so potential renters may find and reserve their parking space ahead of time.

"Finding parking is such a struggle in Seattle," says Seattle-based founder and CEO. "Locals and visitors fight for limited street-side parking, but there is always privately-owned parking available, so there is not a lack of parking spots, rather, there is a lack of resources available for parking space owners."

Parqueo has two user platforms, one for parking space owners and one for parking spot seekers. Parking space owners create a profile and list the location, time, and price of their parking space. Parking spot seekers create a profile and find places to park via the app's GPS map functionality.

"By creating Parqueo, space owners can now market to and communicate with these potential renters," said the app founder. "We put emphasis on making sure that renters and owners are paired up and satisfied."

About: A Seattle resident is the founder of Parqueo, the revolutionary parking app that makes renting privately-owned, off-street parking easier for renters and owners alike. Since 1997, the CEO and founder has worked in the internet technology space, including software development, systems IT, and business development. He was inspired to create Parqueo by his own struggles with parking in his hometown of Seattle. Seeing locals and visitors struggling to find limited street-side parking in neighborhoods when 35% of available off-street parking spaces go unused made him realize the need for parking and the lack of resources available to space owners for renting their spaces. For more information, visit Parqueo's official site and follow their social media channels.

Husband and Wife Artists Hang Together in Museum

Husband and wife artists Rod Jones and Inci Jones will be shown together for the first time as part of a group show entitled: A Dialogue with Nature, at the IEMA a Southern California art museum. The exhibit will also feature several Southern California artists along with two husband and wife artists, two brothers that are artists, and a father and son artist. A Dialogue with Nature is the next in a series of exhibits. The prior show entitled Discovering Receptive Abstract Patternism, was the first show in 2019, kicking off the 6th year of the IEMA museum.

Rod Jones, Inci Jones' husband, and fellow artist just wrapped up his solo exhibit at the IEMA, January 6th – February 10, 2019. Rod states, "My solo show was a wonderful way to start off the New Year, but I'm eminently more excited to share a museum wall with my very talented artist wife Inci Jones. She is an excellent painter, but her photography turned digital art is unequaled, quite beautiful and very cerebral and original."

Mr. Jones' artist wife, Inci Jones passionately refers to her art as: Making the camera see beyond reality. When she is not painting, she is out photographing self-selected images and spends hours digitally manipulating the image and creating what is considered to be exceptionally original. Her art works are quickly becoming a favorite among art collectors and interior designers.

With spring around the corner, this timely exhibit, Dialogue with Nature explores not only the relationship the artists have with the natural world, but also how it's interpreted and visualized.

"The artist should not only paint what he sees before him," claimed Caspar David Friedrich, "but also what he sees in himself." He should have "a dialogue with nature." Friedrich's words encapsulate two central elements of the romantic conception of landscape: close observation of the natural world and the importance of the imagination.

The exhibit is being curated by IEMA Director and museum Founder Gene Sasse, who has successfully managed the museum for six years states, "I look for and select artworks that can be tied together to tell a story; where the whole is much stronger than each piece by itself. Also, when curating I like to add a mix of artworks from artists that create in various art media. From representational paintings & drawings to contemporary art, photography and sculpture." Gene goes on to say, "As a photographic artist myself, I can appreciate artworks in all their various forms & creative expressions."

The exhibit, Dialogue with Nature runs February 24 through March 31st, with the opening reception February 24th 2-5pm. The museum is currently located in its temporary home at: 1334 North Benson Avenue, Unit D, Upland, California 91786. The telephone number: 909-941-3993

A True Family Radio Performance of the Western Romance “Ride ‘Em Cowboy” by L. Ron Hubbard

"Ride 'Em Cowboy" was performed Saturday night radio theatre style to over 120 guests at the L. Ron Hubbard Theatre in Hollywood. It wasn't your normal Valentine's Day romance story—unless you think that combining fire and dynamite is romantic!

Performed by the Meskimen family, along with some help, it truly was a family radio performance. "Ride 'Em Cowboy" is a western romance and tells the story of two top rodeo champions, Long Tom Branner and Vicky Stuart, who have known each other since they were able to ride a horse. And now they're competing to be the champion Buckaroo. The problem with that is that there are two of them and only one — #1 champion.
