When law enforcement leaders from across Iowa converge near Iowa City for the annual Iowa Police Chiefs Association conference, representatives from Aladtec, Inc. will be among vendors present to demonstrate the latest state-of-the-art tools to help protect and serve the public.
Keynote speaker for the gathering is Ron Glidden -- a former police chief-turned consultant and author. Glidden is expected to share highlights from his "Bulletproof Leadership" titles and offer advice on how agency leaders and their teams can boost employee morale, accountability, and performance.
The Aladtec Online Employee Scheduling and Workforce Management software platform is as close as an officer's smartphone or tablet. The cloud-based system streamlines scheduling of staff, makes filling open shifts and trades simple, helps agencies meet minimum staffing requirements, provides a tool to upload files, and assures that mandatory messages get read.
Aladtec has 63 Iowa agencies using its online scheduling and workforce management software, including police departments of Ankeny, Muscatine, Pleasant Hill, and Vinton, plus several sheriff's departments and dispatch centers. The two-day conference also features presentations by a pair of Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations detectives who helped crack an 18-year-old homicide case. Their probe resulted in the conviction of a 51-year-old Tama County man who allegedly killed his then-fiancee. The woman's body was never found, and the conviction is believed to be only one of two in Iowa history won in the absence of such key physical evidence.
Conference attendees will also hear about the history and future of automated driving from Dr. Dan McGehee, Associate Professor of Engineering at the University of Iowa, and director of UI's Advanced Driving Simulator.
