Imaging systems are highly efficient visual inspection solutions for display measurement and qualification. Images enable contextual analysis of a display to identify defects by comparing visual deviations in luminance, color, and other characteristics across the full display area. The process of converting light to digital input to create an image, however, is not precisely one-to-one—inconsistencies in electronic signals occur as values of light are translated into electronic data. Imaging sensor types (CCD and CMOS) accomplish this conversion process in different ways, each with distinct benefits and limitations. Inevitable inconsistencies may be more or less apparent depending on the sensor's properties—hindering or improving imaging system performance. Kovels On Antiques & Collectibles September 2019 Newsletter Available

Amphora pottery auctioned in Pennsylvania is featured in a sale report in Kovels On Antiques & Collectibles September 2019 newsletter. Amphora pottery was made during the turn of the century in the Turn-Teplitz region of Bohemia, and is known for unusual shapes, striking glazes and cleverly executed art nouveau decoration. See the auction's top price Amphora vase with a figural dragon draped around the top that sold for $9,600. Other pictured pieces feature long-haired maidens, moths, spider webs, frogs and vines.

The spotlight was on lighting by Max Ingrand at a New York City auction. Ingrand, a French stained-glass artist and decorator, is noted for his modern, innovative design and use of textured glass. Kovels' September newsletter pictures an Ingrand ceiling light of chiseled and opaque glass that auctioned for more than $100,000, his "Dahlia" chandelier with cut, curved and colored glass "petals" that brought $35,000, as well as other pieces he designed for the Italian company Fontana Arte.

A California auction offered more than 100 lots of Stickley furniture It included pieces by the five Stickley brothers who learned skills at an uncle's furniture company before starting their own businesses, working in various partnerships. "Easy-to-use printers and MFPs are essential for the smooth functioning of any office environment," said Kaitlin Shaw, Senior Editor of Printer/MFP Evaluation at Keypoint Intelligence - Buyers Lab. To determine which OEMs lead the market, analysts at Keypoint Intelligence conducted an in-depth study on tested Ease of Use functionality, focusing on features that directly relate to small and mid-size workgroup habits and environments. Key areas of evaluation included print, scan, and copy functionality, control panels, routine maintenance procedures, and feedback.

LEXMARK RECOGNIZED FOR STANDOUT USER-FRIENDLINESS
Lexmark offers a broad range of devices for small workgroups that are impressively easy to use and maintain. Intuitive touchscreens make programming walk-up jobs a breeze, and well-designed print drivers make programming jobs from workstations just as simple. Helping to further reduce downtime, Lexmark keeps users well-informed of device status before they send jobs via its informative feedback utility. Buyers Lab analysts were impressed with Lexmark's robust USB print capabilities too, particularly the broad range of supported file formats including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Also impressive is the level of guidance Lexmark's touchscreens provide for user maintenance procedures; extensive, graphical, step-by-step instructions steer users seamlessly through the processes for toner replacement and misfeed removal.

RICOH'S SMART OPERATION PANEL OFFERS SUPERIOR USABILITY AND ADVANCED FEATURES FOR MID-SIZE WORKGROUPS
Ricoh stood out far and above the competition in the mid-size workgroup category in every way—thanks largely to its intuitive Smart Operation Panel, which is available across its mid-volume (and higher) line. The large, Android-style display includes a web browser and lets users select from a wide range of Ricoh smart apps that can streamline workflows and enhance productivity. Helping to further reduce downtime, the Quick Copy and Quick Scanner menus can simplify the programming of scan and copy jobs. Buyers Lab analysts and technicians were impressed with the control panel's level of customization, which includes one-touch presets and the ability to rearrange features and modify any screen. Scan functionality was also notable, with broad file format support and robust USB scanning (and printing) functionality. The devices are as easy to use as they are to maintain, offering extensive guidance on the control panel for clearing misfeeds and replacing toner. Furthermore, well-organized print drivers and the detailed feedback they offer to workstations make desktop activity as seamless as walk-up activity.

CSS ProSearch Launches New Website and New Social Media

2019 has been a year of tremendous success for CSS ProSearch, originally a business unit of Contemporary Staffing Solutions (CSS). Client and candidate testimonials have reinforced the strategic need to brand this Search Team separately from the Staffing Team at CSS companywide.

Since 1994, CSS ProSearch has operated as a separate business unit from CSS, yet the two were unified with one website. CSS ProSearch utilizes a different business model than most units of CSS, as they recruit only passive candidates and focus on strictly direct-hire, highly compensated Sales positions. Bringing this clarity to the marketplace will allow ProSearch to scale to a new level of success and bring greater results to their clients who are looking to accelerate the growth of their companies.
