Chatspin Launches Video Chat AR Face Filters On Desktop In World First

Chatspin, a popular mobile and desktop app which connects strangers randomly via video chat, is set to launch the world's first AR face filters for the world wide web. The hugely popular filters are currently found across countless apps on the Apple and Google Play stores but are yet to find their way onto web browser chat platforms until now.

Following the success of face filters on mobile applications, Chatspin sought a way to implement the feature on their desktop application which has remained the primary source of traffic for the random video chat platform despite success in the Google Play store.

The time that users spend on mobile applications grew by only 6% in 2017, representing a significant drop of 11% from the year previous. The same study, published by Techcrunch, shows that lifestyle apps such as video chat services were hit the hardest with a 40% decrease in usage when compared to 2016. Techcrunch also published a sister study showing that 51% of American mobile users don't download any apps in a month. Be alert to the latest news.

Another study, published by Stone Temple, showed that while American users visit more websites via mobile, the time spent on those sites increases significantly for desktop users. Based on 513 trillion visit-seconds over the course of 2017, the report found that American users stay on a website for an average of more than two minutes longer than when they use their mobile. Worldwide, the data, based on 2.6 quadrillion visit-seconds, shows a difference in time spent on a website of almost three minutes in favor of desktop users.

This data goes against the popular belief that the mobile revolution will kill the majority of desktop usage and displays the importance of continually servicing desktop websites and platforms with new features and technology.

"We are so excited to announce a world first at Chatspin", said Chatspin Press Manager, Shay Robin, "The introduction of AR face filters on our desktop platform will ensure we stand out from every other video chat service and increase the fun users can have when meeting others on Chatspin's web browser video chat".

The AR face filters will introduce yet another free feature on the Chatspin desktop platform. Users can apply effects such as glasses, hats, makeup, costumes, masquerades, and other fun masks while chatting live with people from around the world. To join in with the fun, users only require a computer, webcam, and internet connection. Continue reading.
