Landscape Development, Inc. Acquires Zuke’s Landscape, Inc.

Valencia-based Landscape Development Inc. (LDI) announced today that its maintenance division, Enhanced Landscape Management LLC (ELM), has completed the asset purchase of Rancho Cordova based Zuke's Landscape, Inc. (Zuke's). Be alert to the latest news.

The purchase expands the maintenance operations of LDI, with total revenues exceeding $110 million, into new territory.

Zuke's owners, Dan and Jennifer Zuccaro will remain and join the ELM executive team. "We have had the pleasure of working with the LDI/ELM team for several months. What drew us together was the shared values of how we conduct business - treating our employees well and partnering with our valued clients," said Jennifer Zuccaro, who will play a key role in the integration of the Zuke's business into ELM.

Zuke's, through the course of nearly three decades, has developed a very strong local presence and a reputation of quality and customer service relating to commercial landscape maintenance. The entire staff is being fully retained, including field personnel and management.

ELM Division President Ron Reitz said this acquisition brings new talent into the LDI/ELM team as the company extends its maintenance reach into Northern California for the first time. "We continue to grow and push our maintenance division to new heights. We are very excited to bring Zuke's into the LDI/ELM family," Reitz said. "Their pride of ownership and their commitment to staff and clients aligns perfectly with our way of doing business."

LDI President and CEO Gary Horton said the acquisition is an important next step in the company's continued growth and commitment to growing the maintenance segment of the business. "This is a great addition to our LDI family and one which solidifies our position in a key market," Horton said. "This acquisition also allows us to consolidate our local construction and maintenance teams into the best-in-class regional facility, bringing our local talent together under one roof. We continue to pursue acquisition opportunities to grow our business and to provide the best service levels to our valued clients."

Horton founded LDI in 1983. The company currently operates from 13 regional offices throughout California and Southern Nevada.

VA Maryland Health Care Offers Veterans Technological Options for Appointments

At the VA Maryland Health Care System, veterans can virtually meet with their health care providers anywhere using their phones, computers or tablets with the VA Video Connect application. Since its rollout in July 2019, the VA Video Connect app has helped veterans get the care they need via secure, live video telehealth appointments. The VA Video Connect app has proven to be a special benefit for mental health patients and for veterans where distance can serve as a barrier to accessing health care services.

"This is about meeting the needs of veterans where they are," said Dr. Adam M. Robinson, Jr., director of the VA Maryland Health Care System. "VA Video Connect allows clinicians to hold virtual health care appointments with veterans from anywhere using secure and private connections. It makes health care more accessible and reduces travel times for our patients."

Veterans and their health care providers decide together whether to use VA Video Connect for a medical visit. Veterans should talk to their VA providers about using VA Video Connect if they live far from a VA facility; have medical conditions that make it difficult to travel to a VA medical facility; lack time to attend an in-person appointment; or a hands-on physical examination is not required.

For veterans using the app, the expanded choice is an advantage. Army veteran Keith Hertzog, 68, and Marine veteran Steven Levine, 31, agree that the technology has offered more choices that saved them travel time to and from appointments, but more importantly, helped them to stay on track with their treatment plans.

"The drive—mostly traffic being a big factor—made it difficult to get to all my appointments. I'd miss some of them due to the commute," said Hertzog, a Delaware resident who drives to the Cambridge VA Outpatient Clinic for care. "Another important aspect of using the technology is that my wife can now participate with me, and that's been helpful."

For younger veterans like Levine who are already accustomed to using technology, the VA Video Connect offers a seamless transition to keeping up with health care appointments when work and other commitments interfere with maintaining health care visits.

"I'm always streaming video and used to FaceTime, so the convenience of being able to meet with my doctors using the technology makes it easier for me to get care in the early morning hours without having to leave the house, or when I'm out of town," he said. "It's great. I love it! I can talk to my doctor anywhere, anytime. I can go on vacation and still keep my appointment."
Hertzog and Levine urge other veterans to give it a try. "At first, I wasn't sure if I could manage it, but then after I did, I saw how easy it was. It really is like a face-to-face appointment, except that it's on the phone," Hertzog said.

The VA Video Connect app works on nearly any mobile or web-based device that has an internet connection and a web camera, including smart phones and laptops, among others. Veterans can visit the VA Video Connect app test site on their mobile devices to test if they are compatible with the program.
Veterans can learn more about VA Video Connect at https://mobile.va.gov/app/va-video-connect. More info here.

The VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) provides a broad spectrum of medical, surgical, rehabilitative, mental health and outpatient care to veterans at three medical centers and five outpatient clinics located throughout the state. More than 52,000 veterans from various generations receive care from VAMHCS annually. Nationally recognized for its state-of-the-art technology and quality patient care, VAMHCS is proud of its reputation as a leader in veterans' health care, research and education. It costs nothing for veterans to enroll for health care with the VA Maryland Health Care System and it could be one of the more important things a veteran can do. To enroll for VA health care, interested veterans can call 877-222-8387 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., or they can visit http://www.va.gov and clinic on "Apply now for VA health

Multimedia Influencer, Jackeline Cacho, is making headlines with her new book “Mi Mochila Emocional” recently featured on People en EspaƱol March Edition

The creator of the Edutainment Movement in Spanish programming in United States, Jackeline Cacho in her new autobiography "Mi Mochila Emocional" (My Emotional Backpack), lays bare her personal saga. For years she dealt with debilitating anxiety and panic attacks. She hid her condition from the public during her rise to prominence as a most respected national journalist and successful talk show host.

In her own words, Cacho details how she suffered in silence with this condition and how, armed with courage, determination, and surprising allies, was able to overcome it and transform her life at every stage of her career development. Jackeline bravely shares a detailed narrative, with plenty of anecdotes, about one of the most difficult phases of her life. "This battle forced me to fully evaluate the importance of my life, I believe we all are Spiritual Warriors, we have to find the force that can help us to overcome anything," said Cacho. "I hope that my own experiences will help the millions who suffer every day from anxiety and panic attacks and helps them realize the best roads to treatment and recovery." Be alert to the latest news.

In her book, Cacho realizes that she could not have overcome her ordeal without the help and support of her family, specially her mother and very special friends and supporters. Former Mayor of San Antonio and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Henry Cisneros, writes in the book's forward:

"The happy, the difficult and, at times, scary moments in her life have all been turned into invaluable lessons and recounted in Jackeline's honest autobiography, so that we can apply them to today's world. Her story is a narrative of talent, of ambition, of family support, of courage, of determination, of vision and of hard work.

"Jackeline Cacho is an extraordinary human being. We need to be thankful that this multimedia star has chosen to share her ups and downs and ideologies with us in writing. This way we can read it, keep it, re-read it, discover her teachings and cherish it for years to come along with our most valuable possessions.

"Thank you Jackeline Cacho for the support you have given our community."

The book "Mi Mochila Emocional" (My Emotional Backpack) also includes a detailed study on anxiety and panic attacks.

So far this year Jackeline Cacho's book "Mi Mochila Emocional" (My Emotional Backpack) has stood out as one of the most read and searched for by readers. It has been selected in the March edition of the prestigious magazine "People en Español", in the Good Reading Section, where there are only three books in total. The prestigious Colombian writer and Nobel Prize Winner Gabriel García Márquez and the Spanish writer Javier Cercas accompany the Peruvian journalist's book.

In February, the magazine "Para Todos" also included a very positive article praising Jackeline Cacho's career and the launch of her new book: "Jackeline Cacho continues to spread her message of hope, hard work, determination and her commitment to her Latina roots in every new project she undertakes."

In January she was on the cover of "Business Woman Magazine," where there was a seven-page spread on the success of this multimedia star. "Her credibility and effort have been the keys to the success for this wonderful presenter who travels the world flying the flag for peace and success. She continues to make a mark on younger generations "Latinos Unidos Somos Imparables" (Latinos United are Unstoppable) in the face of whatever adversities they may experience, as she demonstrates in her first book "Mi Mochila Emocional" (My Emotional Backpack)", said the magazine.
