#MeToo Movement Founder Tarana Burke to be Given an Award in her Name by Town Clock CDC at Inaugural Being Brave Event, an Evening Honoring Survivors of Domestic Violence

A star-studded cast will come together for Being Brave – An Evening of Honoring Survivors at the Nicholas Music Center, New Brunswick, NJ, on Friday, November 8, 2019, 8 PM. The event is designed to honor women who pursue safety, wholeness and new lives and support them with permanent, affordable housing. Continue reading.

"Everyone deserves a safe place to call home, a life free from violence. Stable housing is the leading catalyst to life improvement and change. At Town Clock, we honor the decision our residents made to escape their abusers and give themselves and their children a chance at a safe and secure life," says Reverend Susan Kramer-Mills, executive director of the Town Clock Community Development Corporation (TCCDC). Susan Kramer-Mills Video Quote

Largest in NJ, 1 of 40 Nationwide
Town Clock CDC's facility transformed the sanctuary of the 200-year-old First Reformed Church of New Brunswick into 10 supportive, long-term affordable housing units for survivors. It is one of only 40 establishments of its kind in the entire United States. When the facility opened in April 2016, it instantly became the largest, permanent housing program for survivors of domestic violence and their children in New Jersey.

"Thousands more units are needed throughout the US. Our goal is to replicate our model by working with other organizations and creating at least two facilities in every state," says Kramer-Mills. "We hope that Being Brave will shine a national spotlight on this national crisis/shortage and enable us to create the affordable, permanent, and supportive housing so desperately needed by survivors of domestic violence."

Being Brave Event & Award
Lisa Guerrero, Inside Edition's award-winning, internationally known, chief investigative journalist, will host Being Brave. "I am proud to host the Being Brave Event and team up with Town Clock to honor survivors of domestic abuse. Lisa Guerrero Video Quote She will be joined by Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo Movement and social justice activist. Grammy Award-winning singers, The American Repertory Ballet Company, politicians and other notables will highlight – through song, dance and spoken word – the challenges and triumphs of survivors seeking a forever home.

Tarana Burke will be the first recipient of the Tarana Burke Being Brave Award for outstanding leadership in breaking the cycle of abuse. "I am honored to be part of Town Clock's movement to create safe havens for women and children who are fighting for their lives by escaping the dangers of domestic violence. I am humbled to receive this award and lend my name in support of women and children seeking new lives. To have a safe place where you can get help and not be alone is critical to dignity and survival," says Burke.

She adds, "Town Clock is proof that we are stronger together, that survivors can break the cycle of violence by doing things big and small every day."

Lucas Group Welcomes Randy Marmon as President and CEO

Lucas Group announced that its Board of Directors has named Randy Marmon as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 15. Marmon succeeds Andi Jennings, who has led the executive recruiting firm since 2009. Jennings will remain a member of Lucas Group's Board of Directors and a principal company consultant.

Marmon's appointment returns him to the city where he launched his career and provides Atlanta-based Lucas Group with proven leadership in the human capital management industry. It also comes as Lucas Group, named by Forbes as a 2019 Top 10 executive recruiting firm, approaches its 50th anniversary and a new chapter in the company's continuing success story.

"Given Lucas Group's track record of delivering unparalleled results for clients and candidates, I'm honored to lead the market's recognized standard-bearer in executive recruitment into its next 50 years," said Marmon. "I look forward to working alongside the incredible team of professionals Andi Jennings has assembled here and am excited to share my 30-years of HCM experience with a company that is acutely positioned for growth and transformation."

Marmon began his career in Atlanta as a public accountant in 1987 and was quickly recruited into the human capital industry by Norrell Services in 1989. He subsequently joined Kforce in Tampa, Florida, where he progressed through the company during his distinguished 21-year tenure. In 1997, he was tapped to launch the National Accounts division and within three years, the team contributed over 25% of the company's Technology and Accounting and Finance revenue. He was named President of the firm's Midwest region in 2004 and ultimately rose to the newly created role of Chief Customer Officer, where he served until late 2013.

In 2014, he founded a boutique advisory firm, Human Capital Transformation, and began consulting with a number of HCM firms, including P2P Staffing and its technology staffing arm, TekPartners. Marmon joined TekPartners as Chief Strategy Officer in 2016 and most recently served as an Executive Advisor.

Marmon replaces Andi Jennings, who became only the second CEO in the company's history when she was named to succeed Lucas Group founder Art Lucas in 2009. Jennings's 43-year career at the recruitment firm was built by her consistent sales and leadership achievements at every level. As CEO, Jennings unified the firm's disparate practice groups under one company vision, expanded its geographic reach, and grew the company to over 550 Associates.

"From my first day on the job as a Sales and Marketing recruiter in 1977 to the last decade as President and CEO, I've dedicated my career to ensuring Lucas Group remained the nation's leader in executive recruiting through unwavering customer focus," said Jennings. "This has been an incredible journey for me. I am proud to pass the privilege of leading Lucas Group on to Randy, whose reputation and accomplishments – both professional and personal – truly speak for themselves."

Marmon's appointment follows a rigorous and comprehensive search that was conducted by Heidrick & Struggles and spearheaded by Jennings and Carolina King, Chief People Officer, on behalf of Lucas Group's Board of Directors. His office will be located at the firm's headquarters in Atlanta.

"Randy's deep strategic and operational expertise uniquely positions him for this role, at this moment. I am excited to welcome him into Lucas Group's rich history and look forward to the business vision, cultural energy, and innovative growth his leadership will bring," Jennings said.

Marmon, who holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Central Florida, began achieving success quickly upon his transition to recruiting and was named Kforce National Sales Rookie of the Year in 1992. By the time he left the staffing firm in 2013 as Chief Customer Officer, Marmon led an organization of over 1,000 employees and was recognized for revitalizing the company's Strategic Accounts program, establishing customer pricing and profitability platforms, accelerating its Healthcare Vertical, transforming its National Recruiting Center, and directing all job board, social media, immigration, and independent contractor initiatives. In addition, he served on the Board of the firm's Government Services Business unit.

The meeting, hosted at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, surpassed one hundred attendees including rheumatologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, CEOs, practice administrators, office managers, and super users who work in independent rheumatology practices across the nation. TSI Healthcare clients of all sizes converged to hear best practices for reducing EHR "clicks," streamlining documentation, reducing costs, navigating MIPS, and integrating new technology into their practices. Throughout the meeting a hands-on area provided clients with the opportunity to obtain one-on-one assistance from TSI Healthcare's trainers and support team members also in attendance.
