New Children's Christmas Book Helps Support Homeless Families This Holiday Season

With record homelessness in New York City, including over 23,000 children in city shelters, marketing agency Stein IAS today unveiled a new children's book and animation, 'Somewhere to Believe In," with all proceeds going directly to Win.

The book, written and illustrated by Stein IAS, aims to highlight the importance of empowering and supporting homeless children. Donations will help Win, the largest provider of family shelter in New York City, fund daycare, after school classes, field trips, and college preparation for homeless children.

In the story, Santa searches for a little girl who wrote him a letter, and along the way realizes there are many children who don't have homes. In the end, the reader is the hero, because by making a donation and reading the book, they have supported a charity that is helping homeless women and their children rebuild their lives and believe in a better future. Chatspin Finds That Introverts Prefer Random Video Chat Platforms Over Traditional Social Media Outlets

Chatspin, a popular random video chat app on mobile and desktop which connects strangers from around the world, has become a favorite networking site for introverts. The nature of the platform – allowing users to meet people randomly for short periods of time – suits the personality of introverted people who at times find it difficult to cope with the pressures of maintaining friendships on other social networks such as Facebook.

The findings come from data gathered by Chatspin about users who can optionally answer questions about themselves to get better connections while using the video chat. Of those who described themselves as an introvert, a majority 62% said that they prefer using random chat platforms over other social media outlets. Just 21% said they prefer other social media platforms while 13% said both and 4% said neither.

The foundation of many social networking websites is to connect with people you know and open up a new channel of communication. However, introverted people struggle with the stress of using traditional social media as shown in a study, "Does Your Personality Trait Affect Behavior on Social Media?" by Arcadia University. The research showed that extroverted people use social media more than introverted people. It also showed that extroverts post more frequently, spend more time, and communicate far more regularly across social media platforms. The fact of the matter remains that introverted people do not want to isolate themselves, they simply don't want to feel pressured into constantly liking or messaging people as is encouraged by popular social networking sites.
