Wine Oh TV Named Best Drink or Beverage Program at 10th Annual TASTE AWARDS in Los Angeles

Meridian Showcases InterAct at North Carolina Main Street Conference

Meridian, an industry-leading kiosk manufacturer and software developer recently showcased their off-the-shelf interactive digital signage software solution, InterAct, along with some of their kiosk hardware at the annual North Carolina Main Street Conference. This year's conference was hosted in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Built on the secure MzeroPlatform software, InterAct is designed to add value by enhancing user experiences and providing a platform to promote businesses, attractions and events by displaying interactive information on a digital kiosk. It is available as a software package, added to existing signage, or as a total turnkey solution, including software and hardware, for both indoor and outdoor models.

While the software solution is designed to function across a variety of industries—including retail, education, hospitality, healthcare, and government—the use case for tourism, especially in small towns and tourist destinations, is an obvious one.

"Cities and towns of all sizes and geographic locations can use InterAct to engage both visitors and locals with information on local restaurants, shopping, lodging, attractions, and events," said Meridian's Marketing Director, Stephanie Mewherter.

The menu pages, search features, individual listings, and printing capabilities are an effective way to convey information to users, but the solution can also be used as a revenue-generating advertising platform. Additionally, the cloud-based platform offers remote management capabilities with varying permission levels—making it simple to make updates no matter how many deployments a location has.

"As the 'smart city' concept continues to spread, cities and towns are beginning to consider different ways to incorporate technology into their existing infrastructure. Throughout our two days at the conference, it was apparent that kiosks are top of mind for cities across the state, both large and small."

Held in a different North Carolina small town every year, the three-day event is put on by the NC Main Street & Rural Planning Center, registration is open to anyone interested in learning about downtown economic development. In addition to Meridian, exhibitors at this years' event ranged from companies offering city planning and land design services, to wayfinding solutions, architecture firms, and utility providers. This year's event attracted more than 700 attendees.

Ad Agency Continues Winning Streak For Annual Report Designs

The agency has won multiple awards for Annual Report designs over the last 7 years and was recently awarded 2 more additional awards at the Annual American Advertising Awards event this year in Riverside, Ca.

The two awards this year were for the Annual Report for the San Bernardino County Employees' Retirement Association (SBCERA) and the Orange County Employees Retirement System (OCERS).

Company President Shawn Glaspell says, "It can be a challenge trying to make financial data look attractive and interesting," adding, "I knew we had some good designs this year, and I am happy that we were recognized for it."

The Annual Report for SBCERA featured over 160 pages of information, coupled with high end photography and custom graphics, to communicate the many visual wonders of San Bernardino County theme along with the organization's financials.

"Annual Reports are different than the usual graphic design project," Glaspell says. "Both the graphics/layout and the financial information has to be proofed, reviewed and approved, and that can be a real challenge."

Director of Finance for OCERS, Tracy Bowman explains, "It's great to get recognized for the extra effort that goes into making the annual report and creating a document that is interesting to various stakeholders and readers of the report. We are very happy with the finished product and receiving the award is an added bonus."

Racing for a Cause; Extreme Energy Solutions Drivers Take Laps for Project Help

Extreme Energy Solutions Brand Ambassadors and Race Car Drivers include ARCA Driver Tommy Vigh Jr., NASCAR Xfinity Series Driver David Starr, and DIRT Car Hall of Fame Driver Jeff Heotzler - three drivers from different racing divisions coming together to race for a cause.

Project Help, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to assist Veterans and their families in need, is getting a little help from race car drivers from various racing arenas to help educate communities about the importance of supporting those that have served in the military and are now finding themselves and their families dealing with difficulties in the aftermath. The 501c3 non-profit, based in Wantage, New Jersey, is led by long-time Veteran Advocate, Sandy Mitchell, who is the Founder and CEO of Project Help.

Project Help serves as a resource center and is connected with a number of other Veteran-focused organizations, some that are community non-profit based and some that are directly affiliated with Veteran services in the areas of health care, job assistance, job training, employment, counseling and support groups.

"Employment is the first defense against Veteran homelessness. When a Veteran can find a job that will provide him/her with a reasonable standard of living and compensation package (livable wage), the Veteran is able to hold themselves up by their own efforts," stated Mitchell.

Unfortunately, most Veterans cannot find work that is in line with their previous assignment in the military, and therefore, must become trained and acquire new skills for job placement. Access and the ability to pay for education go hand-in-hand with gainful employment. Project Help has stepped in and assisted Veterans in the past that were just a few yards away from completing their higher education goals, with assistance from the Project Help Hardship Fund.

Project Help launched its Mobile Closet (a bus retrofitted to serve as a mobile campus) which is stocked with clothing, used laptop computers for crafting job resumes, and personal grooming/hygiene products for Veterans who may need these items in preparation for employment interviews. This service is a FREE service to Veterans, as all of the items on the bus are donated by private individuals and businesses that help fund the mobile closet's operation.

Project Help has assisted in connecting homeless Veterans with job opportunities with employers who understand the importance of putting Veterans back to work in gainful employment. Many of these employers are small business owners who are either Veterans themselves or have loved ones who are. One such company that takes the importance of assisting Veterans in need to heart is the green technology firm, Extreme Energy Solutions.

Extreme Energy Solutions has been a corporate supporter of Project Help since its inception, and has lent its staff, executive team, and race car drivers to help share the message of Project Help and assist in carrying out events and programs that directly help Veterans and their families.
