NACM's CMI Begins 2020 with a Bang

The Credit Managers' Index (CMI) is off to an overwhelming start to 2020. While other indices such as the purchasing managers' index are down to begin the new year, the CMI rebounded in January from a down December to reach a nearly three-year high. "Given that credit managers tend to think in the future, this month's good data may be seen as a harbinger of things to come," said NACM Economist Chris Kuehl, Ph.D. "Not that everything is likely to come up roses in the next several months, but for the time being the threats seem a little more distant than expected."

The combined CMI reached a reading of 56.4, up 1.8 points from December, and it is back at levels seen in mid-2019. Much of the gain is due to the large jump in the favorable factors; however, the unfavorables improved as well. The favorables increased almost three points to 62.2, the highest reading since May. All four factors were in the 60s—sales leading the way at 63. This is the first time all four factors are in the 60s since August after just missing out in October and November.

More info here.:

https://jessicapressreleases.blogspot.com/2018/04/early-childhood-education-experts-new_30.html

The unfavorables were all in expansion territory (score above 50) for the second month in a row. Dollar amount beyond terms made the biggest gain, standing at 54.2 after being at 51. "There has been a desire on the part of many companies to go into 2020 with a reduced set of credit obligations in order to be better protected should there be some kind of slowdown. This is showing up in the credit data with reduced slow pays and improved dollar collections," said Kuehl. Rejections of credit applications was the only factor to not improve in January; it remained at 52.

Tariffs, trade wars and other economic factors, such as issues at Boeing, were expected to impede the manufacturing sector; however, Kuehl asked if the January numbers were an anomaly or is the sector in better shape than predicted? All four favorable were also in the 60s, and again sales led the way with a nearly six-point swing. While the unfavorables improved, not all sectors did. Rejections of credit applications and dollar amount of customer deductions each declined slightly. Filings for bankruptcies improved 2.4 points. "The important aspect of these readings is nothing like this kind of performance had been expected given all the gloom and doom surrounding the manufacturing sector," said Kuehl. "This can all change in a heartbeat and there have been times in the last year when there has been such a flip, but for now the news is quite encouraging."

New credit applications paced the service sector favorable with a 4.4-point climb, yet amount of credit extended had the highest score of 64.5. "While traffic numbers were good and revenue was up, many reported lower profits as consumers tended to stick to discounted goods; there is just not enough margin in these." Kuehl points out retail did fairly well, mainly due to online merchants and not brick-and-mortars. Unfavorables increased to 52.5 in January from 50.9. Much of the movement can be traced to improvements in dollar amount of customer deductions and dollar amount beyond terms.

"Whether this was an indication of a strong finish to 2019 or a good start to 2020 the data is encouraging," Kuehl concluded. "Now, all eyes will be on next month to determine which month was the anomaly—the shrinking December or the booming January."

For a complete breakdown of the manufacturing and service sector data and graphics, view the January 2020 report at http://web.nacm.org/CMI/PDF/CMIcurrent.pdf. CMI archives may also be viewed on NACM's website at http://www.nacm.org/cmi/cmi-archive.

2.2 MILLION kids have now discovered aviation free of charge through EAA Young Eagles program

The biggest youth aviation education program ever created reached another milestone this week, as the Experimental Aircraft Association's Young Eagles program surpassed 2.2 million kids flown since the first program's flights took place at the 1992 EAA Fly-In Convention at Oshkosh.

Be alert to the latest news.:

https://jessicapressreleases.blogspot.com/2018/05/1-800-petmeds-announces-return-of.html

"As we reach each of these milestones, it's a further credit to the dedication of the EAA-member pilots and volunteers who have committed their time and aircraft to bringing young people into aviation," said Jack Pelton, EAA CEO and chairman of the board. "The success of Young Eagles means thousands of today's under-40 pilots can trace their personal journeys back to that first flight with a Young Eagles pilot."

More than 50,000 EAA-member pilots have donated their time, aircraft, and fuel to fly kids over the past 27 years, with an equal number of ground volunteers assisting the program. Flights have taken place on every continent except Antarctica, and in aircraft ranging from hot air balloons to corporate jets. Young Eagles began in 1992 in response to a survey of EAA members who overwhelmingly replied that getting young people involved in aviation was the most important issue to ensure the future of recreational flight.

Young Eagles has also been the foundation of EAA's more recent efforts to encourage and engage young people in aviation. That includes the Sporty's online Learn to Fly course, available to all Young Eagles and now approaching 75,000 enrollees. It also set the stage for last year's inaugural group of Ray Aviation Scholarship recipients, as more than 100 young people earned full flight training scholarships in conjunction with local EAA chapters.

Dozens of aviation companies also support Young Eagles, including Phillips 66, the program's presenting sponsor. Other supporting sponsors include Garmin, Lightspeed, WACO Aircraft, the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and Global Aerospace, as well as Young Eagles Flight Plan sponsors Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Sporty's Pilot Shop.

"To every pilot and ground volunteer who has been part of Young Eagles, the aviation community thanks you," Pelton said. "If you haven't flown a Young Eagle yet, we enthusiastically invite you to do so. You will have a more impactful influence on the future of flight than you'll ever know."

More information for pilots, parents, and young people is available at EAA.org/YoungEagles.

S'moresUp (smoresUp.com), a Smart Family Management platform that teaches kids critical life skills through chores and rewards, announced a game-changing partnership in 'smart parenting' with Home Connect, a dynamic digital ecosystem created to connect home appliances to the Internet of Things. With this collaboration, parents can now simply assign chores automatically with just their voice from their home appliances.

With the new Home Connect and S'moresUp integration, parents can easily program their dishwasher, coffeemaker, washer or dryer to automatically assign specific chores to their kids. The Home Connect ecosystem works with smart technology - like Google Assistant and S'moresUp - to make home management and parenting easier.

"Technology advances have changed the way companies operate and people across the globe communicate. It's time that parents benefit from emerging technology as well," said Priya Rajendran, CEO and co-founder of S'moresUp. "We're pleased to share that with this collaboration, technology is unlocking new ways to assist busy parents, while helping kids learn responsibility, self-reliance, and other critical life skills."

Together, the two companies are reimagining 'smart parenting,' a new connected, data-driven paradigm where families run on assisted technology for household optimization and child development, making parents' lives easier. The Internet of Things has been conceptual in the last decade, and now that it's becoming a reality, S'moresUp is working with smart device manufacturers to help parents manage their time smarter.

"We are proud to add S'moresUp to Home Connect's growing ecosystem, which offers the richest connected appliance experience available today," said Johannes Ochsner, head of connected products and digital services for Home Connect. "Partnering with innovative startups such as S'moresUp offers users a fun way to interact with their appliances while getting household tasks done."

Now boasting a 4.5-star rating on both Android and iOS and growing to 200,000 family members in just one year, the company also just launched a "Digital Health" category to make learning fun for kids while teaching them how to self-manage screen time. The family app helps kids learn critical life skills through assigned tasks and chores, does behavior analysis to provide parents with insights around their kid's learning, integrates with the family calendar, creates goal setting through rewards, helps kids form long term habits through advanced data analytics and allows the family to interact with each other from within a safe "walled off" family network.

Republic Ranches Lists 40,000+ acre Monarch Ranch in West Texas

Republic Ranches, an elite farm, ranch and rural properties brokerage firm serving Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana and Arkansas, is offering the Monarch Ranch, a sprawling West Texas ranch of 40,138 acres in Val Verde County. Home to Texas' largest volume cave, with over five miles of Devils River flowing throughout and the remains of the historic Fort Hudson, the ranch is prime property for adventure, hunting and fishing.

Fern Cave, located on the western portion of Monarch Ranch, is home to one of the world's largest remaining bat populations. Also known as Bat Cave, it is the nesting spot for the Mexican free-tailed bat, the dominant species in Fern Cave. The majority of Texas free-tailed bats migrate south into Mexico for winter, though extra-cool areas near entrances are used in winter by Western big-eared bats and Eastern pipistrelles and may be used by other species such as Peter's ghost-faced bat.

The spring fed Devils River is considered some of the cleanest water in Texas. Indigenous people, Spanish explorers, ranchers, military outposts, Texas Rangers and outlaws have called this basin home for thousands of years. Monarch Ranch is located 30 miles upstream from Lake Amistad and with pristine waters running the Devils River, outdoorsmen find the ranch ideal for hunting and fishing. Read this here.

"Monarch Ranch is an outdoorsman's dream. Fantastic hunting opportunities for a huge variety of game exist during the winter, as multiple ecosystems converge on the ranch," Republic Ranches Partner Jeff Boswell said. "You can hunt bobwhite quail behind dogs in the upper grasslands, hunt mallards in the river bottom, white-tailed deer in the canyons and chase aoudad sheep through the mountains. I do not know of many places where that is even remotely possible. Read related news now.

"Floating along the Devils River with crystal clear water and the feeling you are alone on the planet is almost magical; hat such a river can exist in the Chihuahuan Desert in West Texas is almost inconceivable and yet there you are" Boswell added. "The fishing on the ranch is truly unique with an exceptional small mouth bass population that thrives in the river because it is spring fed and stays cool all summer. This ranch can and should be used year-round with both excellent hunting and fishing available across all seasons." Read all the latest news.

Monarch Ranch is full of historical adventure dating back to John Coffee Hays, the first American to visit Val Verde County in 1848 to establish a road from San Antonio to El Paso. Also known as Camp Hudson, a fort named for Lieutenant Walter W. Hudson, who died in action in April 1850 at the hands of Native Americans. A post office was built on Fort Hudson the same year it was established in 1857. Although troops were pulled from the post when the Civil War began, the post office continued to operate, serving military troops and area settlers until 1866. Soldiers occupied the post again in 1867 and were tasked with protecting travelers and newly arrived settlers. By January 1877, the threat of attacks by Native Americans was over and the post was abandoned. The remains of Fort Hudson are still found on the ranch today, in addition to a small gravesite. The fort was recognized with a centennial marker by the Texas Historical Commission in 1936.

Access to the property is convenient, with an airport on the west side of the ranch, including a paved 6,000 foot runway, large hangar and fuel tanks. Access across the ranch is highly improved with the addition of over 13 miles of paved roads, and a very rare private bridge over the Devils River.
