How to Create “Game of Thrones” Worthy Fire Effects with Red Giant

Red Giant is once again taking on what is arguably one of the greatest TV series ever made with the latest edition of its popular YouTube tutorial series, Cheap Tricks, diving into the mind-blowing visual effects of Game of Thrones. In part one of the series, Action Movie Dad Dan "Hashi" Hashimoto demonstrates how to create magic fire effects like the many seen throughout HBO's adaptation of "A Song of Ice and Fire," particularly those created by the Red Priestess, Melisandre. "One of the things I hope you learn from these examples was how quick and intuitive Supercomp can feel when applying to a shot using raw materials like this and outputting a final shot like that," Hashi says in the YouTube video, as he talks viewers through the Red Giant tools used to create magical fire effects. "Honestly one of the best parts of integrating Supercomp into your workflow is that you can shop through final looks really quickly. You can browse through different presets and get some really wonderful results using super simple ingredients as it were, to go into your shot. You don't have to add a series of six adjustment layers to see what a fire and its compound blur and its distortion map would look like; they're all applied right here, altogether in one workspace."

N3rd Street Gamers Announces Partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University to Bring Esports to the Florham Campus

N3rd Street Gamers (NSG) today announced a partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) to bring a professional-grade esports team room to FDU's Florham campus.

NSG, a national network of esports venues, technology, events, and consultative services based in Philadelphia, PA, will provide the design and build for the room. As the largest private university in New Jersey, FDU is taking an active approach to supplying the growing demand for esports facilities on college campuses across the United States.

Along with supplying the equipment and designing the framework for Fairleigh Dickinson, NSG will advise the University on the creation of their esports team and program slated to launch in 2020.

"With video gaming as popular as it is amongst our students, we are partnering with N3rd Street Gamers to build our first on-campus gaming room and create a competitive program at FDU for esports," said Robin Williamson, Dean of Student at FDU's Florham Campus.
