Photographers Earn Big with Zenfolio’s New Pre-order Feature on Its Top-Rated Photography E-Commerce Platform

Photographers using Zenfolio's new pre-order feature have generated an extra million dollars in sales since its roll-out 120 days ago. Zenfolio (zenfolio.com) is a Silicon Valley software as a service (SaaS) and e-commerce business used by more than 100,000 photographers. Pre-order allows photographers a new way to engage with their clients and generate more sales. Pre-order enables photographers to sell photos, packages and shoots in advance of an event or session. Photographers are able to customize the pricing and packaging of shoots and photographs based on their specific business model, enabling them to sell anything from digital photos and photo shoots to all-inclusive packages in minutes. The ease and simplicity of the experience has driven rapid, noteworthy growth for both photographers and Zenfolio.

Photographers need to expand their services in order to capture a portion of the $450 billion dollar e-commerce market in the USA, according to data from the Department of Commerce. Pre-order helps photographers accomplish this by instantly giving them their own online store. Photographers no longer need to spend time manually typing orders, printing forms and meeting clients to collect payment. With Zenfolio, the photographer's store is always open so their clients can order and pay before the lens cap is even removed.

"The feedback on pre-order testing was so positive that we expanded availability to all customers in October 2018. Pre-order is now the most successful new offering in the company's history, generating more than a million dollars in revenue for photographers in the past 120 days," said John Loughlin, CEO of Zenfolio. "We listen carefully to photographers and recognized an opportunity to improve their business. No other provider was offering a simple method to sell in advance of a shoot. Pre-order is just the latest example of the many things we're working on for our customers."

Gail Roser, owner of Grand Photography LLC based in Gilbert, Ariz., has used pre-order to sell more than $50K for her school and sports league photography business. "I love that the pre-orders can be placed online before picture day. The clean design allows customers to seamlessly purchase their packages." Read all the related news.

Zenfolio will be showcasing this new feature to tens of thousands of trade show attendees at Wedding & Portrait Photography Intl. (wppiexpo.com) in Las Vegas, NV February 27 - March 1, 2019. Photographers will get a chance to see a live demo and experience the full benefits of using the Zenfolio suite of offerings, including the website builder, e-commerce, and marketing tools, along with pre-order.

Zenfolio, headquartered in Menlo Park, Calif., is an all-in-one platform for professional and amateur photographers to showcase, share and sell their photography. Photographers are provided with a full suite of marketing tools that saves time, increases efficiency and allows them to focus on photography. Its suite of software services includes a photography website builder, digital photo gallery sharing tools, and e-commerce solutions—including the new pre-order feature, paid digital downloads, prints and photo gifts. Warren County, Ohio Dispatch Team Finds Efficiencies with the Shift To Aladtec.com

The 44 dispatchers and supervisors at Warren County Emergency Services in southwest Ohio recently moved their scheduling tasks from manual spreadsheets to Aladtec. The change is saving several hours each shift, and employees love the convenience, according to Operation Manager Jesse Madden.

"The staff is so happy they can access the schedule remotely, request comp, sick or vacation time while also being able to see their vacation, sick, and comp time balances," Madden wrote.

The center operates from Lebanon -- situated midway between Cincinnati, some 30 miles to the southeast, and Dayton, 27 miles to the north. The population of Warren County was 212,600 in 2010, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Madden and several co-workers became familiar with Aladtec while working part-time with area fire departments.

Aladtec, a cloud-based scheduling and workforce management application, is currently used by 246 fire, EMS, law enforcement, and communication centers across Ohio including some agencies for which Warren County ES provides dispatch services.

"Prior to Aladtec we used an Excel Spreadsheet," said Madden. "It was very time-consuming each time changes were needed, and the employees could not access it remotely or on their personal devices. When we decided to demo the product, we were able to streamline the paperwork, reducing the man-hours it was taking to approve time off, and track it in multiple different systems."

"Switching to Aladtec has saved us several man-hours per shift. We already see great time savings from the supervisors by freeing them up from 'paperwork' and going paperless," Madden added.

The agency began using Aladtec in July 2018.

The Warren County center employs 32 Dispatchers, six Dispatch Supervisors, an administrative assistant, and a training coordinator, plus Madden and Director Melissa Bour.

The center provides dispatch services for 10 area police agencies and 13 fire departments, as well as the Warren County Sheriff's Office, Adult & Juvenile Probation, the dog warden and county park rangers. The staff also fields after-hours calls for the Coroner's Office, Children's Services, Health Department, plus the street, sewer, and water departments.

Last year, Warren County ES dispatchers handled approximately 212,000 police calls and 22,000 fire and EMS calls.

Other Aladtec dispatch patrons in Ohio include Akron Safety Communications Center; Athens County 911; Chagrin Valley - Brecksville; Chagrin Valley Dispatch, Bedford; Cuyahoga Emergency Communications System, Cleveland; Hamilton County Communications, Cincinnati; Licking County Regional Communications Center, Newark; Lorain County 9-1-1, Elyria; Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Communications, Dayton; Southwest Summit Communications, Akron; and the Wooster-Ashland Regional Council of Governments, Wooster.

Aladtec, labeled "software-as-a-service" in computer parlance, is a su bscription-based platform that streamlines the process managers use to build complicated schedules. It uses e-mail and texting tools to allow employees to trade shifts, request time-off, and be notified of open shifts anywhere they have phone- or internet connectivity.

The program also allows agencies to build and host electronic forms to document daily station routines like public records requests, training documentation, and repair requests. Administrators can also track staff members' licenses and certifications, upload files that members can access remotely, and send notifications to individuals or groups when the need arises to fill an open shift or staff a special event. A system log tracks all activity on the platform, providing airtight accountability.

Does the Price of Groceries Change the Amount of Wasted Food?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), recently announced their new agreement "Winning on Reducing Food Waste" inititative. The new inititative is to help improve education, communication and other impacts of reducing food loss and waste. While nearly one-third of all food is wasted within households, another third is wasted at retail level. With these facts in mind, a couple of researchers published in Applied Economic Perspectives & Policy (AEPP) to examine how food price and expenditure affect the demand for food waste.

Craig Landry and Travis Smith from the University of Georgia test their theories in "Demand for Household Food Waste."

Smith says, "Due to the inherent difficulty in collecting food waste data, previous research has relied on stated preference information (i.e., hypothetical scenarios). Our estimates are the first to use nationally representative data of actual meal production and consumption in the household."

Gen Z and Millennials Say Travel and Hobbies Rank High as Relationship Starters in Lieu of Social Media and Dating Apps, According to New Survey by EF Ultimate Break

Wishing you'd swiped left instead of right? With Valentine's, Galentine's and #SingleAwarenessDay looming, EF Ultimate Break, a leader in all-inclusive group travel for ages 18-29, asked Millennials and Gen Zers their top picks on how to make friends and find love. . . the old fashioned way, without technology.

As expected, the local bar scene is still a top choice, but it looks like hook-ups are losing ground to longer-lasting experiences and relationships. But interestingly, "finding a new hobby" and "booking a trip" round out the top three choices. It turns out that 18-29-year-olds who pick up a hobby like rock climbing and/or hit the road to explore may be doing so for more than the obvious recreational benefits.

In a largely digital world, IRL (in real life) experiences brought on by travel or hobbies serve as an easy "ice breaker" and create natural, authentic opportunities for young people with similar interests to find and connect with each other. And unlike an awkward Valentine's Day Tinder date, the benefits from these experiences tend to last a long time!

"At EF Ultimate Break, we're seeing a new, more social trend to travel. More than 60 percent of the 18-29-year olds who book with us do so solo often with hopes of making new friends," says Michelle McNeice, VP, Marketing. "Group travel gives them the rare opportunity to hang out in a new country with likeminded, equally passionate, wanderlusting individuals. Our trips are designed to be fun, super engaging, and stress-free making it easy to connect in real life." Read this here.

An internal consumer survey of more than 860 EF Ultimate Break travelers revealed 80% travel for adventure with one out of five (19%) also choosing to travel to make new friends.

One "relationship starter," however, is still a big no no: moms need to lay low. More than 96 percent say "no-way" to parent matchmaking! Both sexes view trips to the bar and travel almost equally, though women are more likely—by five percentage points—to seek out a new hobby.

In addition, EF Ultimate Break offers interest-free payment options meaning Millennials and GenZers can book now and pay on a schedule leading up to departure —making travel in your twenties financially attainable.
