This award is given to employers to go above and beyond in their support of employees who are active members of the military, specifically the National Guard. Hobson has always gone out of his way to support the military, especially those who work for him, and he is proud to accept this honorable award.
This award, according to its website, "reflects the effort made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting levels of absence if needed". It is given by the ESGR, which was established in 1972 by the Department of Defense for the purpose of promoting employer cooperation of Reserve Service members.

When handing out the award, Cherilyn Heyliger pointed out Hobson's commitment to helping both veterans and military members alike. She made note of his fairness as an employer who doesn't question when employees in the Guard or Reserves have to report for duty. She also stated that he is a firm supporter of military employees as top employees in his business. Heyliger recognized this as significant because even though it leaves a gap in his company, he is committed to making it work and offering his full support to his employees who serve their country.

Hobson spoke to his company's commitment to creating a culture that supports our military. He himself employs over 50 active duty military personnel or veterans. When asked the reason for his support, Hobson said, "From a business standpoint, our most productive employees are veterans, so it's the right business move and the right thing to do for people. We're trying to get the word out and trying to figure out ways to hire more veterans. Our military expense is the largest training budget of any organization in the world and so they come out with many of the skills that we need. We can teach them how to fix an air conditioner, but we can't teach them how to be a nice person."
There's no one more deserving of the Patriot Award and what it stands for than Brett Hobson.
