Holo Acquires Hylo Community and Collaboration Software

We're excited to announce that Holo has recently acquired the Hylo software product. Hylozoic, Inc. has been building tools to support collaboration within and between communities and networks for many years. Hylo, their flagship platform, was created to support people solving the great challenges of our time and empower communities to build a world that works for everyone. It has been used by communities in over 80 countries around the world.

Hylo has many features we are thrilled to take advantage of that will benefit Holo and our global community equally.

Hylo's user interface design (UI) will serve as the basis for a Holo UI design-language, ensuring we have a beautiful, ready to use framework for creating the front-ends of our core apps.

Encouraging collaboration between communities is a key part of our organizational DNA and we've also acquired Hylo to extend that intention throughout the Holo and Holochain ecosystems. Hylo's currently operational app is a well-architected communication platform that will serve as an open-source commons for the Holochain community to use and build a next generation of collaboration tools. These tools are especially important in evolution and growth of co-ops, NGOS and other communities committed to a healthy internet.

Additionally, from both a design and an engineering perspective, the way Hylo is structured makes it perfectly suited to being converted to run in the future as a decentralized application on Holochain. The Hylo code base will be instrumental in helping us demonstrate how a centralised app can be transformed into a distributed app. When a centralised app is architected with sufficiently modularity, the UI may need only minimal changes to support the evolution to a distributed app.

Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. Partners with MBA Opens Doors Foundation

Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. (PRMI) announced at its October 2019 National Conference their partnership with the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) to raise donations for the MBA Opens Doors Foundation.

The organization pledged to match funds donated from its branch partners across the country through the end of 2019. PRMI branch partners raised a total of $19,814.20, resulting in an additional $20,000 match from the company, making the grand total donation to MBA Opens Doors Foundation $39,814.20.

"To have the support of companies like PRMI means that families facing one of the worst crises in their lives can focus on the health of their child and not on a home in jeopardy." said Deborah Dubois, president of the MBA Opens Doors Foundation. One of the country's most highly-regarded estate buyers, sellers and repair centers of fine luxury watches and jewelry, has reached the rare milestone of 40 years in business. From its small, 1980 beginnings on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, Gray & Sons Jewelers has grown into an international authority with satisfied customers around the world. We sat down with the President of Gray & Sons Jewelers, Keith A. Gray, to find out how things have changed over the last 40 years for his business.

Q. You started this business in 1980. What has changed and what is still the same in the way you do business?

A. The whole world has changed since we stepped into the digital era including internet and social media but one thing has not – and that is our dedication
to serving our customers and community to the very best of our ability.

Q. Were you always interested in the luxury watch and jewelry business?

A. I originally had planned to be a veterinarian. When I started the business in 1980 the price of gold had just increased to astronomical levels and people were selling their gold heirlooms for cash. I had just finished my Bachelor's degree in Zoology at the University of Florida, and took a break from my veterinary medicine aspirations and started buying gold watches and jewelry.

I quickly realized that I was acquiring some very valuable pieces. I started going to national jewelry and antique shows and my collection of vintage and pre-owned modern watches grew rapidly, and with it grew the scope of the entire business.

By 1985 Gray & Sons was considered a world authority in vintage collectible timepieces
and well known for our eclectic collection of estate platinum, gold and diamond jewelry. Our signature brands include Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Omega, Jaeger LeCoultre, Piaget, Breitling, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, and the list goes on. Read all the related news.

Q. How did you grow the business beyond your original store on Lincoln Road?

A. We expanded into multiple locations: Lincoln Road, Coconut Grove and Bal Harbour/Surfside. We also began running ads in national newspapers and magazines

So we started printing brochures and catalogs of our watches and jewelry and mailed that catalog to a growing list of customers and prospects around the country. This is where the real growth was taking place, so in the 1990s we consolidated all our operations into our current showroom across from Bal Harbour Shops on 96th Street. More info here.

A. While Gray & Sons initially focused on buying gold watches and jewelry there was a need to restore and bring these heirlooms back to life in order to resell them. International Bond and Share Society (IBSS) Open Enrollment Membership Period Begins

The International Bond & Share Society (IBSS for short) is an association of people interested in scripophily. The society was founded in 1978 as a non-profit organization with the aim to promote, encourage and develop all aspects of scripophily. The IBSS has members all over the world and is funded exclusively by the members. The society publishes the Scripophily Magazine three times a year Read here.

The Society is led by volunteers for the benefit of its Members, who have a mutual interest in educating, collecting and sharing information of bond, stock and share certificates and company histories. The Society shall provide a platform to interact with the academic community, museums, members and the general public to share the knowledge and history of these financial documents.
