Warehouse Expansion

Soft-Tex's presence in South Carolina has expanded nearly ten-fold since opening operations in the Charleston area to establish a warehouse and distribution center supported by the efficiencies offered through the South Carolina Ports Authority system. Mag-nificent Instant Photo Experiences has partnered with franchise sales company Franchise Beast to expand their event photography franchise across Florida and the Southeast through 2019, with plans for coast-to-coast expansion as soon as 2020. A UNIQUE PHOTO EXPERIENCE AND BUSINESS MODEL

Mag-nificent's business model is based on offering personalized, keepsake photo magnets to attendees at all types of events from weddings, birthday parties, family reunions and all the way up to huge concerts, NBA playoff games and giant corporate conferences. A photographer works the room, taking candid and posed shots of attendees. The photos are then printed on magnets and offered free of charge to attendees to take home. "The event organizer pays Mag-nificent," Levison said, "We will never charge attendees for our services or products."

Other services offered by Mag-nificent include, a "Video Cube" that is a fun way for guests to leave video messages that can be shared on social media by the event organizer, a "Photo Cube" to capture funny moments, and a proprietary app that lets attendees send and share photos during and after the event. Levison said the app is Mag-nificent's "secret sauce" that sets the company apart from other event photo companies. Levison said the app is available for Apple and Android devices and "allows real-time sharing with instant on-site printing." The "MagApp" allows event attendees to participate by creating their own event photo memories and sharing them to the organizer's social media feed in real time.

Mag-nifcent was founded in 2011 in Atlanta after Levison returned from a trip to Europe. "Photo magnets are a big thing over there. People love to keep mementos from events and parties they've attended -- something tangible they won't throw away or lose in a sea of photos on their phones. We wanted to bring that to the United States, so we founded Mag-nificent to offer unique photo experiences stateside."

Levison said the company enjoyed success immediately, becoming a go-to vendor for event and party planners across Atlanta, and soon at big events across the country. Food Tech Innovator Halla Raises $1.4 Million Seed Round to Expand Personalization Technology for Online Grocers

Halla, an AI company focused on personalized recommendations for the food ordering industry, announced today $1.4 million in seed funding, led by early stage food industry investor E&A Venture Capital with participation from multi-stage technology investor SOSV.

The funding round follows Halla's 2018 release of its "Intelligent Ordering" platform, Halla I/O. Using Machine Learning technology built on the psychography of food selection, Halla I/O increases order volume and frequency for online grocers and helps consumers effortlessly make smarter food ordering choices and new food discoveries based on their preferences.

The $1.4M seed round brings the total equity raised by Halla to $1.9M. Halla will use the funding to scale its I/O platform, onboard new customers and further develop its AI technology. Halla I/O is currently being used in stealth mode by several regional and national grocery chains.
