Oahu Tour Company Introduces Whale Watching Cruises This Winter

Oahu tour operator And You Creations announces its first year of offering whale watching tours this month.

Each winter, approximately 10,000 humpback whales migrate to Hawaii from Alaska to give birth to their calves. The new And You Creations whale watch tour will operate during the peak season of whale sightings, from December to March.

"Whale season is the boat crew's favorite time of year," Dolphins and You General Manager Kaina Neuman said. "We are very fortunate to be able to welcome humpback whales back home to Hawaiian waters."

Though the company has always offered dolphin swim tours, it is now able to diversify its ocean tour offerings thanks to its new boat. The investment in the vessel has increased passenger capacity two-fold. With two decks, the new boat is also ideal for spotting marine life.

The company has also purchased exciting hydrophone technology that will allow guests on board to hear whale and dolphin sounds from beneath the sea. The whale songs will be broadcast to tour guest over an all-new surround sound system. Read news here.

Whale watch guests will enjoy the same tour amenities as the dolphin swim guests, including hula performances, a 20-foot waterslide and a taro bun burger lunch.

American IRA Discusses How Should a Self-Directed IRA Be Used with Student Debt?

According to a recent survey, the "average" college graduate in 2016 has student loan debt of over $37,000. This alarming figured served as the basis for a recent post at American IRA's blog, in which the Self-Directed IRA administration firm asked how a Self-Directed IRA could be used toward student loan debt.

The post pointed out that the trend is not just recent. There are over 44 million Americans with an outstanding student loan balance, with a total estimated around $1.4 trillion. For those investors interested in building a nest egg for retirement, eliminating this debt is a high priority—and often the first step on the road to building net worth that can sustain until retirement.

The article points out that a Self-Directed CESA (Coverdell Education Savings Account) can provide tax benefits while being used "strictly to fund education." These Coverdell Accounts are typically set up by parents or grandparents of a child in school.
The account holder in such a situation would pay appropriate taxes on the contributions to the Self-Directed CESA. But the earnings can grow tax free—with the caveat that they must be used toward education.

"There are lots of options out there for people who are planning to pay for college," said Jim Hitt, CEO of American IRA. "It is not only about building a retirement fund when it comes to self-directed accounts. People can also exercise a great deal of control in planning for the high costs of education. From Neglect To Burnout: New Study Emphasizes Importance Of Employee Appreciation

There are a number of factors which can lead to the perfect storm that is burnout: An overwhelming workload, an emotionally draining job, a lack of job control and autonomy, or underdeveloped coping skills. However, there is one crucial yet avoidable component of burnout managers must heed: A lack of appreciation. Research from PsychTests reveals that dismissing the importance of verbal praise and gratitude for a job well done can have a significant and damaging impact on employee well-being.

Analyzing data from 7,050 people who took their Burnout Test, PsychTests' researchers focused their analysis on two distinct groups: Employees who feel appreciated at work and those who don't. Here is how they compared in terms of their risk for burnout:

"In our study, unappreciated employees were less satisfied with their job, and more likely to be suffering from physical and emotional exhaustion, two major symptoms of burnout.
