From Neglect To Burnout: New Study Emphasizes Importance Of Employee Appreciation

There are a number of factors which can lead to the perfect storm that is burnout: An overwhelming workload, an emotionally draining job, a lack of job control and autonomy, or underdeveloped coping skills. However, there is one crucial yet avoidable component of burnout managers must heed: A lack of appreciation. Research from PsychTests reveals that dismissing the importance of verbal praise and gratitude for a job well done can have a significant and damaging impact on employee well-being.

Analyzing data from 7,050 people who took their Burnout Test, PsychTests' researchers focused their analysis on two distinct groups: Employees who feel appreciated at work and those who don't. Here is how they compared in terms of their risk for burnout:

"The only thing worse than undervaluing the importance of appreciation is underestimating the consequences of a lack of it," explains Dr. Jerabek, president of PsychTests. "In our study, unappreciated employees were less satisfied with their job, and more likely to be suffering from physical and emotional exhaustion, two major symptoms of burnout. Moreover, 64% of them said they feel helpless, and this is a statistic managers should be particularly concerned about. When your staff has reached the point where they feel their efforts, their time, and their hard work no longer make a difference, things are already critical. This is when things will spiral (or snowball), with absenteeism, sick leave, and turnover."

"Part of this vulnerability to burnout could be associated with a lack of effective coping skills; 61% of the unappreciated employees said they take very little, if any time to relax, and 72% of them tend to keep their problems to themselves. So without an outlet to release the tension and without social support, employees increase their susceptibility to stress-related problems. However, management may be able to play a major role in offsetting the effects of stress. Showing employees that the company cares, that their hard work is appreciated, and offering praise and gratitude could lessen the psychological burden of a stressful job environment. If we know that symptoms of burnout are more likely to be found in people who feel unappreciated at work, then it stands to reason showing genuine appreciation could have a positive impact on staff morale. Genuine words of appreciation can be a powerful healing balm."

The Oddbods Go-Kards Game from One Animation Achieves Kickstarter Goal in Just One Week

Oddbods, the twice Emmy nominated, hilarious, quirky animation series from One Animation received full funding for its Oddbods Go-Kards card-based racing board game in less than one week on the crowdfunding site, Kickstarter. To celebrate this milestone, One Animation along with game developer Playware, is gifting each backer with a limited edition bonus pack featuring seven unique collectible Oddbods figurines. More excitingly, backers can now purchase Go-Kard Little Racers specifically developed for young fans. The Kickstarter campaign is live until December 12th.

"We are thrilled to have reached our Kickstarter goal and are happy to share our excitement with our backers by giving them a collectible gift set," says Anabel Higgin, Marketing Director of One Animation. "More importantly, we're happy to now offer our fans the opportunity to purchase Go-Kard Little Racers, which was specifically designed for children ages five and up."

Just like Oddbods Go-Kards, the Oddbods Go-Kard Little Racers perfectly captures the hilarious madcap antics of the Oddbods. To play, players must navigate challenges and obstacles strategically planted throughout the track whilst taking opportunities galore to prank their competitors in a gripping race to cross the finish line. One can only expect the unexpected in this unique board game that's different every time it's played and designed for children ages five and up. Read related news here.

Each of the board and card actions relate to each of the seven Oddbods' core personality traits, so whether its Pogo's mischievous side or Fuse's tantrums, players can never predict what will happen. There are also forfeits to be paid before a player is permitted to move around the board: Can you lick your elbow? Then you can't pass go!

The game's interchangeable track allows players to build their own unique board-game, resulting in a different play experience each and every time. That includes the level of difficulty and even the length of the game, allowing players to customize game play based on their individual preference. Looking to play a quick game? Then create a small track. Looking to play all afternoon, then add more tracks? It's completely up to the players and is why it's ideal in a myriad of situations, including at a party with friends, or as part of family game night within your own home.

With several reward options, Oddbods fans and board game enthusiasts will have the opportunity to bring Oddbods Go-Kards from concept to creation through this crowd-funding platform.

Oddbods Go-Kards Kickstarter campaign is live until December 12th.

Momentum Auto Group Opens Customer Service Center to Support Customers During Management Transition

Momentum Auto Group proves itself again as a top dealership in Solano County with a plan to respond to customer needs quickly during their transition to new management. This customer service offering is a temporary solution in response to branch shutdowns until new management is prepared to open doors again at its Solano County dealerships.

The past year has been a series of hurdles for Momentum Auto Group, as multiple setbacks caused a tremendous loss in revenue. For 10 months, construction has halted at the auto group's largest location, costing time and money in setbacks. Also, buying patterns shifted during an integral season due to the California wildfires, which in turn created poor work conditions for company employees (due to unclean air). Along with these hurdles, a major financial lender to the group filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.

The absence of Momentum's nine dealerships from the local economy would be devastating; they're currently one of the largest sales tax payers in the county at roughly $15 million each year. Additionally, Momentum Auto Group is one of the largest payroll tax payers in Solano at an average of $7.5 million annually.

After this year's complications, the leaders behind Momentum Auto Group understood they needed to find new ownership that could lead the chain of dealerships into a lucrative future. While locations are expected to reopen under new management before the end of the year, Momentum Auto Group is opening a customer service center to support customers in the meantime.

This is a tremendous benefit to customers who otherwise must wait until new management is prepared to reopen dealership doors before completing ongoing maintenance requests. The customer service center will be a temporary solution to ensure customers have access to promised resources while the company transitions. Click here to read the latest news.

New management will lead Momentum Auto Group into a bright future, but the current leaders have ensured that the customers will receive the care they deserve in the meantime through the transitionary period.

For more information on customer service availability, please reach out to help(at)momentumautogroup(dot)com.

Chicago-based Family Planning and Fertility Startup Nubundle Raises $1.5 Million Series Seed Led by Lightbank

Family planning and fertility services are increasing in necessity and popularity, in part because of wider trends: the general fertility rate decreased to an all-time low in 2017, and the average age of first time mothers increased to over 30 in major metropolitan areas. This has resulted in 1 in 8 people seeking fertility help, with that number doubling for those without a child and over 30. This is a particular problem for millennials and their employers — 48% of employees delay starting a family to focus on their careers and 57% would change jobs for family planning benefits. Yet it's uncommon for employers to offer family planning support. Further, insurance coverage is trailing the market needs. In most states health insurance doesn't cover fertility treatments, and in those that do, coverage is not inclusive of LGBTQ+ couples and individuals. Additionally, the costs of fertility treatments are prohibitive, putting starting a family out of reach for many.

Nubundle doesn't think prospective parents should have to risk their financial stability to start a family, nor should it be cost prohibitive for employers to provide support. The company is on a mission to redefine employers' relationships with the family through benefits by providing access to family planning and fertility services. Nubundle's three solutions are affordable for employers and help prospective parents avoid financial risk:

1) Family Planning Concierge - Access to an experienced network of family planning coordinators and fertility experts for support at every stage of the journey, from thinking about having a child to understanding fertility treatment options.
2) Affordable Fertility Treatments - Nubundle has a network of fertility clinics that have been pre- vetted for patient care, success rates and value.
3) Just in Time Insurance - Financing and insurance options for patients and employers.

Nubundle's work is clearly resonating with employers: since starting earlier this year, Nubundle is on track to have employers with thousands of employees on the platform for their beta launch in January 2019.

"Starting a family should be one of the happiest moments of someone's life. However, the reality for a growing number of people is that it involves stress, fear, and a lack of support and information," said John Ciasulli, CEO of Nubundle. "We want to make sure everyone understands their choices and has an affordable path to maximize their chances of conceiving, freezing their eggs, or accessing services like IVF."

"There is an incredible market opportunity to provide financial security to those struggling with fertility" said Vic Pascucci, Managing Partner at Lightbank. "The seasoned entrepreneurial team at Nubundle has come up with great products that offer understanding, choice and affordability to people going through these hugely difficult challenges. I'm excited to see them open up care for the vast majority that aren't able to access it today." Be alert to the latest news.

Nubundle was co-founded by John Ciasulli and Chris D'Cruz. Ciasulli was previously an EIR at Lightbank and the first employee and COO at Uptake, the nation's fastest growing enterprise software company. D'Cruz was previously head of business and corporate development at Raise, a gift card marketplace and mobile prepayments company that counts Accel, NEA, Bessemer and PayPal amongst its investors, as well as a co-founder of south east Asian based Paktor, a series of mobile platforms now with over 2 million monthly active users.

About Nubundle
Nubundle helps employers redefine their relationships with the family through benefits by providing access to family planning and fertility services. Nubundle offers a platform that provides access to an experienced network of family planning and fertility experts, affordable fertility services, and just in time insurance.

About Lightbank
Lightbank is a top performing early stage venture capital firm headquartered in Chicago. The firm was founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneurs Eric Lefkofsky and Brad Keywell (Tempus, Uptake). Lightbank sources propriety investment opportunities from the 16,000 employees that worked in its network, the 250+ founders/co-founders the partners have backed and deep industry connections.

Newbury Trials E-Paper Information Display at the Town’s Busiest Bus Stop

West Berkshire Council (WBC) is trialling an innovative information display at one of its busiest bus stops, using Papercast solar powered e-paper bus stop displays. Read here.

Located on Park Way in Newbury, the screen shows live service information, supplied by Reading Buses through their data supplier R2P, for local Kennections, Reading Buses and Vodafone routes. It's intended to add information for other routes further into the project. Continue reading.

The site was selected given the high volume of services calling at the stop and customer feedback on the presentation of information on an older screen inside the shelter. Situated on a Vodafone commuter route and with local bus services covering Parkway retail, leisure and residential development as well as the Northbrook Street shopping area, the stop is one of the busiest in the area. The former 3-line LED shelter sign was unable to show arrival times for all services in a timely manner, and customer feedback prompted WBC to pilot an alternative approach.

Due to the nature of e-paper technology, Papercast displays have the potential to show more detailed and sophisticated information in an energy efficient unit that can be solar powered. The single 13.3" wireless display was installed on the existing non-powered sign pole and shows real-time arrival information with clear screen visibility, even in direct sunlight.

Jeanette Clifford, West Berkshire Executive Councillor for Highways and Transport said: "The new solar screen, delivered through partnership working, is a good example of innovation in West Berkshire and is another way of making information available to customers using the local bus network."

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the West Berkshire Council team to find a solution using our e-paper display technology," comments Robert Bicket, CEO at Papercast. "It is great to see that WBC, along with other local authorities and bus operators across the country, are starting to make the move towards smarter, more innovative approaches to keeping passengers informed at the bus stop".

Papercast is revolutionising the way operators provide passenger information at the bus stop. The unique attributes of e-paper make it ideal for outside use, with unbeatable screen visibility, even in direct sunlight. Couple this with wireless connectivity and exceptionally low power consumption, and the displays can be continuously solar powered – no power or connectivity cables are required.

ABOUT PAPERCAST

Papercast's next generation bus stop passenger information solution uses wireless solar powered e-paper displays, with a comprehensive content management system developed exclusively for public transport needs. The platform enables transport providers to effortlessly keep passengers informed on real-time and advance service information at bus stops in a clear and user-friendly format.

American IRA Discusses How Active Should Investors Be with a Self-Directed IRA?

A Self-Directed IRA often requires more active work on the part of an investor. Because the investor is in control of this portfolio, they often have to handle the due diligence on each investment themselves. But what is the appropriate amount of activity for investors who hold a Self-Directed IRA? And just how hands-off might a Self-Directed IRA be? Recently, American IRA took to its blog to answer these questions.

As the post noted, "control is the key word." Investors, the post argues, do not only have control over what investments are contained within the Self-Directed IRA, but can control their level of involvement. For instance, a passive investor can utilize a Self-Directed IRA to hold shares in private companies without directly controlling those companies. Or a passive investor can hold real estate within a Self-Directed IRA, outsourcing much of the work and concern to the property manager responsible for overseeing the property. Furthermore, the investments of precious metals are highly passive—requiring almost no work from the investor who believes that gold and silver will see drastic increases in the future.

On the other hand, an investor can also exercise a great degree of control over their Self-Directed IRA. For instance, an investor can take an active role in their due diligence and choosing investments like tax liens. This can require a lot of "homework" on the part of the investor—which is something that suits people with an active interest in these types of investments.

The post at American IRA stresses that with self-direction, an investor has a lot of options for creating a portfolio that's as active or passive as the investor so chooses.

"There are a lot of options here," said Jim Hitt, CEO of American IRA. "And our goal with the post was to demonstrate that. An individual can not only choose what they hold in their Self-Directed IRA, but they can choose these assets as part of an overall strategy of passivity or activity. It all depends on an individual's preference. And a lot of people enjoy having that option."

For more information, visit the post at http://www.AmericanIRA.com or call 866-7500-IRA to contact the Self-Directed IRA administration firm directly.

About:
American IRA, LLC was established in 2004 by Jim Hitt, CEO in Asheville, NC.

The mission of American IRA is to provide the highest level of customer service in the self-directed retirement industry. Jim Hitt and his team have grown the company to over $400 million in assets under administration by educating the public that their Self-Directed IRA account can invest in a variety of assets such as real estate, private lending, limited liability companies, precious metals and much more.

As a Self-Directed IRA administrator, they are a neutral third party. They do not make any recommendations to any person or entity associated with investments of any type (including financial representatives, investment promoters or companies, or employees, agents or representatives associated with these firms). They are not responsible for and are not bound by any statements, representations, warranties or agreements made by any such person or entity and do not provide any recommendation on the quality profitability or reputability of any investment, individual or company.
