Service Objects and Santa Launch Interactive Online Tool to Allow Consumers to Check Their Holiday Contact List Twice

Service Objects, the leading provider of real-time global contact validation solutions, today announced it has created a free cloud-based tool where consumers and businesses can go to verify and validate the global contact data for those on their holiday list. The online resource, featuring Santa and his helpers, was created to assist individuals and organizations in checking their address list twice to avoid the cost and frustration associated with mailing cards and packages to the wrong location. The online tool is now available, click here to use it.

Powered by Service Objects' DOTS Address Validation – US, Address Validation – Canada, and Address Validation - International, visitors can input up to 10 addresses on their list from anywhere in the world and receive back a result indicating if the address is valid or if it is undeliverable. Even more useful, for those addresses that can be fixed, the web service will return a corrected and standardized version, ensuring packages and mail arrive on time this holiday season.

Even Santa and his elves have learned that using Google Maps to find an address will not always be useful for delivering mail and packages. Although Google Maps is a powerful lookup tool, it will not validate that mail can be actually be delivered to a particular location. The outcome is valuable packages and holiday communications can be returned as undelivered. Only by using a robust Address Validation solution can individuals be sure they are using a deliverable address. Click here to read the latest news.

"With the holiday season fast approaching, Service Objects wanted to spread some merriment by helping people be sure their contact data is as accurate and up-to-date as possible," said Geoff Grow, CEO and Founder, Service Objects. "By providing free access to our suite of global Address Validation services, visitors can check their list twice and reduce the stress of the busy holiday season."

Service Objects can also help businesses with larger lists to validate. For more information or to upload your list, click here.

The Institutes and ITL Innovator’s Edge Survey: Insurance Companies Are Prioritizing Innovation, but Face Technical and Cultural Hurdles to Implementation

A new survey of insurance executives found that while most companies are prioritizing innovation strategies in order to remain competitive, they are hindered by misconceptions and assumptions related to legacy technologies, culture, and budget and a lack of skills and understanding. The survey was conducted by The Institutes, the leading education and research provider for the risk management and property-casualty insurance industry, in partnership with ITL Innovator's Edge, an insurance intelligence platform and advisory specializing in Growth Through Innovation™.

Nearly 70 percent of the 178 senior-level insurance executives surveyed said their company has implemented an innovation strategy, and nearly 90 percent consider this strategy at least a mid-level priority. But the gap between having a strategy and making innovation a top-tier priority is notable. A lack of employee expertise and technical training were also noted as obstacles to success. Only three percent of respondents said that most of their organization's employees have an adequate understanding of innovation and the skills to be innovative. Further, almost 40 percent of those surveyed cited a need for different talents and skills as one of the largest hurdles to the adoption or execution of innovation strategies.

"New technologies coupled with innovative best practices can vastly improve the insurance experience for many customers, and it's encouraging to see a strong commitment to harnessing these tools in our industry," said Peter L. Miller, CPCU, president and chief executive officer of The Institutes. "However, we see a clear need for additional training, education and expertise to help organizations fully leverage new technologies that are capable of cutting costs, reducing fraud and facilitating powerful information-sharing." Read this here.

Many of the professionals at the property-casualty, life, surety and health insurance companies surveyed said they are focusing innovation efforts on technology advancements such as artificial intelligence, telematics, Internet of Things capabilities and blockchain. When asked what they hope to achieve with innovation, improving the customer experience and engagement was the most popular response. Other opportunities included driving operational innovation and developing new products and services.

"Disruption is coming to nearly every industry, including insurance," said Guy Fraker, chief innovation officer at ITL Innovator's Edge. "However, as opposed to hearing disruption in a negative context, corporate leaders in insurance will be best served by hearing disruption as a proxy for exponential growth opportunities. Innovation has become essential to survival. So not just leaders, but everyone in the industry must become comfortable with new ways of thinking and acquire the skills needed to adapt and thrive in this new landscape."

Apple’s Face ID Security Available in Mobile App for Clinical Trial Management

Crucial Data Solutions announces the latest update to their native mobile app for clinical trial data collection and management. TrialKit™, an eClinical platform, has incorporated Apple's biometric technologies for user authentication. Now, iPhone users with compatible generation devices can quickly and easily sign in to the app via facial recognition or fingerprint recognition.

Regulatory compliant (FDA 21 CFR Part 11) research studies are reimagined when the latest mobile health (mHealth) technology meets facial recognition technology. By using Face ID®, research professionals have faster, more secure access to TrialKit to build, manage, and analyze studies. They will no longer worry that their username and password may fall into the wrong hands or lost devices where the user opted to stay signed in.

Likewise, study participants using TrialKit to complete electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO) will feel more comfortable inputting data for a clinical trial. This will create a more robust audit trail and offer streamlining in the adjudication of trial data. In turn, this should also help improve patient compliance and engagement rates. Researchers and patients access the same app and are therefore protected by the same security measures.

Data security is always a concern on the clinical research front. This new method of authentication safeguards sensitive patient data at an unmet level. The likelihood of someone being able to access any given user's iPhone via Face ID is 1 in 1,000,000. Authentication using Face ID provides 1024 bit encryption - data security that paper-based clinical studies or studies using simple password data encryption cannot achieve. This exceeds National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards by utilizing encryption that is several thousand times greater than this current standard. NIST recommends the use of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128, 192 or 256-bit encryption, OpenPGP, and S/MIME.

And, according to Apple's Face ID Security Guide, apps that use Face ID are notified "only as to whether the authentication was successful; it can't access Face ID or the data associated with the enrolled face." Users of TrialKit can be confident that the app cannot access any Face ID data associated with the device.

Study administrators will also have the ability to enforce exclusive biometric authentication. This means all the users and participants, within a study, will be required to sign in with Touch ID® or Face ID and restricted from the old email/password identification system. Mandating the use of face recognition technology will help curb false authentications and maintain data integrity.

When reached for comment about the future of Face ID in clinical settings, Dr. Leigh J Mack, CMO at Crucial Data Solutions, elaborates, "Currently, facial recognition systems are currently being used in some medical check-in systems at oncology clinics. The main advantage of facial recognition system for clinical trials are:

TrialKit is available on the App Store® today and can also be found on Google Play for Android devices. TrialKit on Android currently has support for fingerprint authentication, and is awaiting Android mobile support for facial recognition being available to third party apps. Rest assured, TrialKit will be onboard as soon as it's made available.

    About Crucial Data Solutions, Inc.
Crucial Data Solutions, Inc. is a forward-thinking company dedicated to developing innovative technologies that reduce the cost of medical research by equipping clinical professionals with the tools they need to advance treatments that enable patients with life-altering conditions to lead better lives. We believe clinical research should be a true partnership between ourselves, research professionals, caregivers, and patients worldwide. Read here.
