Let Your Kid Be a Hero, a Genetic Engineering Hero

Learning hands-on genetic engineering skills just got a lot closer to home with the release of the world's first beginner's guide to genetic engineering. "Zero to Genetic Engineering Hero: The beginner's guide to programming bacteria at home, school & in the makerspace" is written for teenagers, families, teachers, and classrooms to acquire university-level genetic engineering skills without needing expensive equipment or expert guidance.

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) remain a controversial subject in society, in large part due to the lack of understanding of what genetic engineering is. A growing gap between the public and science/technology has resulted in international anti genetic engineering and anti-science movements, in part driven by celebrities that are promoting anti-science and anti-GMO philosophies.

"It is critical that the next generation learn the nuts and bolts of genetic engineering and understand one of the greatest and most important technologies humanity has created," says Dr. Justin Pahara. "Mainstream people that spread suggestions based on fear from partial information are doing society a great disservice. It is more important than ever for our society to become educated and learn the facts of how our world works rather than react with fear and aversion." Click here.

But there is a rapidly growing Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) movement across the globe that is bringing education of how our world works to teens. With Zero to Genetic Engineering Hero, biology and genetic engineering are now also part of this STEM revolution. Students as young as twelve years old are now becoming leaders in science literacy by learning the basic principles of genetic engineering in their homes, schools or makerspaces. Read this for more information.

With the availability of the right tools, STEM education is much more accessible to the next generation. "The book, the DNA Playground, and my centrifuge gave me an understanding of what genetic engineering is and how you can program bacteria to make things. It was so exciting that I'm asking my Science teacher to start an iGEM team next year that will compete in the High School league," says Pau, 12 year old from Washington, DC, USA.

Pau is one example of hundreds of teens learning genetic engineering through STEM activities. Patricia, from Toronto, Canada, also 12 years old, dug deep into the world of genetic engineering using the Zero to Genetic Engineering Hero guide in order to feed her growing CRISPR-Cas9 interest.

Genetic Engineering Heroes like Pau and Patricia are the bright stars of our tomorrow. Not only could they help cure diseases using science, but even more important and powerful is that as teenagers, they have a deep understanding of what genetic engineering is and can make informed decisions about genetic engineering and GMOs throughout their lives.

Join the biology STEM revolution today and see the worlds first beginner's guide to genetic engineering.

Zero to Genetic Engineering Hero Author Julie Legault is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab and is an expert in transforming complex technology into experiences for non-experts. Justin Pahara is a graduate from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge, and has more than a decade of experience in synthetic biology and genetic engineering. AOTMP Research & Advisory Uncovers EMM and Profiles 29 Vendors in 2018 MMS Market Landscape

Almost 40 percent of enterprise respondents tell AOTMP Research & Advisory that managing mobility has become more complex over the past three years. This comes as no surprise, given the volume and types of mobile devices, and their varying use cases, that organizations rely on to conduct business. Add to that corporate presence in geographic regions with differing regulations and cultures, and the challenge grows even greater.

These factors, and more, make managed mobility services (MMS) more relevant for, and appealing to, enterprises than ever. Fortunately, there are dozens of vendors from which to choose. But that variety presents another quandary – how are enterprises to decide which MMS vendor will best fit their needs? Helping organizations make that informed selection is one of the key objectives of AOTMP Research & Advisory's newly published 2018 Managed Mobility Services Market Landscape.

This 103-page report exposes the enterprise to 29 MMS vendors, and the changes and enhancements coming from many of them. Because each organization operates in a unique way, no one vendor will fit all. Therefore, enterprises looking for a new provider should use the 2018 Managed Mobility Services Market Landscape to identify the vendors that best align with their principles and needs. With that in mind, the 2018 Managed Mobility Services Market Landscape targets enterprise decision-makers accountable for performance results, as well as the other influencers responsible for the mobility environment within the organization.

Vendor executives, meanwhile, will gain visibility into market maturity, enterprise requirements and partnering opportunities. Research and development and product managers will come away with insight into market demand for solution capabilities that will help them set development roadmaps. Finally, sales and marketing experts will learn about enterprise demand and opportunity to accelerate business growth. Importantly, this report does not rank vendors, and vendors will want to license this report to showcase their capabilities to prospects and clients.

In addition to profiling vendors, the 2018 Managed Mobility Services Market Landscape examines four main trends affecting enterprises. The report offers AOTMP Research & Advisory's unique, expert perspective on how those issues affect enterprises and vendors, and recommends actions each party should take. Those trends are:

Organizations must manage mobility well to make the most of the freedoms the technology brings to the workplace, and to maintain peak efficiency and productivity. Using MMS vendors can be one crucial way to bring about these, and other, desired business outcomes. To read and/or license the 2018 Managed Mobility Services Market Landscape, contact AOTMP:

Roland Eco-Solvent Wide Format Printers Earn Buyers Lab 2019 Pick Awards

Keypoint Intelligence - Buyers Lab (BLI), the world's leading independent provider of testing services and analytical information to the document imaging industry, today announced the winners of its Pick awards in the Wide Format category, with the honors going to two stellar devices from Roland DG. These awards acknowledge the products that gave the best performances in Buyers Lab's rigorous wide format printer field tests over the previous year.

BLI's 2019 Wide Format Picks go to the following exceptional devices:

ROLAND DG TRUEVIS VG-540/VG-640 (DUAL CMYK)
Outstanding High Production CMYK Eco-Solvent/Latex 54"/64" Printer

ROLAND DG TRUEVIS VG-540/VG-640 (SEVEN-COLOR PLUS WHITE)
Outstanding Enhanced CMYK Eco-Solvent/Latex 54"/64" Printer

ROLAND DG DELIVERS PRAISEWORTHY PERFORMANCE
Two of Roland DG's wide format devices were awarded well-earned Picks for their strong performance in Buyers Lab's field tests. "The dual CMYK Roland VG-640 excelled in our productivity tests, with speeds more than 27 percent faster than average printing on Avery Dennison MPI 3000 monomeric vinyl and 40 percent faster than average on MPI 1105 premium vinyl," said David Sweetnam, Keypoint Intelligence's Director of EMEA/Asia Research & Lab Services. "This printer is all about fast turnaround without sacrificing quality, as many of our test images exhibited neutral grays, fine details, and smooth skin tones at the high-speed, 4-pass print setting."

Meanwhile, the seven-color plus white ink Roland VG-640 excelled in BLI's color accuracy performance. "On the two different media, this model produced average Delta E measurements of around 3.4 across 15 PANTONE colors, some of which are hard-to-match oranges and purples, results that will readily meet the demands in all color-critical applications," Sweetnam said. The VG-640 also earned very good marks across the board for image quality, speed, and the VersaWorks Dual RIP.
