Apcela, the cloud application acceleration provider, announced today that it was named a non-NSP managed SD-WAN provider in Gartner's May 2019 Market Guide for Managed SD-WAN Services.
"Enterprise demands for greater agility, higher performance and network expense optimization continue to grow," according to Gartner. "Enterprises struggling to balance expense reduction with greater WAN agility and performance are increasingly turning to managed SD-WAN services." As a result, the Guide states that managed SD-WAN services are forecast to grow in-line at a compound annual growth rate of 84.7% (2017 to 2022).
While the market is growing, non-NSP entrants are challenging legacy NSP providers. According to Gartner, "Non-NSP managed SD-WAN service providers are disrupting the traditionally NSP-centric sourcing model for managed WAN services." One of the reasons for that disruption is the non-NSP's ability to enable transport-provider neutrality. "In these instances, enterprises may retain market-based choice, giving them greater agility to change WAN transport providers, while still maintaining operations continuity and SPOC support separate from NSP transport agreements."
"We are proud that Gartner recognized our innovative solution for SD-WAN services," said Mark Casey, CEO of Apcela. "The enterprise need to simplify network infrastructure, while increasing agility in a hybrid IT cloud environment is fast becoming one of the primary challenges facing organizations. Apcela's solution enables enterprises to transform their network and application delivery model creating a foundation for speed, application performance, and ultimately business success."
Apcela's application hubs or AppHUBs coupled with its high-performance, low-latency network backbone creates the framework for Apcela's global, SD-WAN overlay platform service. With zero-touch, endpoint provisioning, Apcela supports a broad range of SD-WAN configurations customized to support the unique challenges of the enterprise.
