Constructech Honors 2018 Women in Construction

The percentage of females within construction might only be 9%, but the women heading up major projects or representing leadership roles are still going strong, based on this year's winners of the 2018 Women in Construction awards.

Now in its fourth year, Constructech magazine's 2018 Women in Construction recognizes women who are the most successful women working within the construction community and are constantly proving that they have the passion, tenacity, and steadfastness to lead the largest and most successful projects in the world, all while leveraging innovative technology.

Nominations were directed to the editorial staff at Constructech magazine and then winners were chosen by a group of their peers within the construction industry.

"I am always inspired by these women. It's truly a great time to celebrate women who never hold back and who are an inspiration to the next generation—both men and women," says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Constructech magazine and president of Specialty Publishing Media. "The dinner is just an opportunity to take a few hours out of the year to really acknowledge these women who are employees, colleagues, friends, family, and to just appreciate all that these humble, gracious, and strong leaders are doing and to really thank them for their contributions."

With the construction industry facing a skilled labor shortage, these awards come at a good time for construction to allow women and men to come to together to mentor and inspire the next generation of workers.

"These women are demonstrating how to be an effective leader in the construction industry today," says Laura Black, editor, Constructech magazine. "Together, as an industry, we can bring a whole new generation of workers to the jobsite. These women are taking the first step, helping to mentor and lead in encouraging ways."
