GovX Launches New App to Power Military Discounts Online

GovX Inc, the company dedicated to offering online discounts for current and former US military and first responders, has launched GovX ID, a free app available for Shopify that lets merchants quickly and securely offer discounts to the men and women who've served in uniform.

GovX ID is a digital identification system that securely verifies a customer's status as a current or former member of the US military, American law enforcement, firefighting, first responder, and related uniformed service communities. When enabled on a Shopify merchant's website, the digital ID card lets merchants quickly deliver protected discounts exclusively to those who've served.

"Many merchants want to recognize the service of our military and first responders, but there's no easy way to do that online where the customer is largely anonymous," said Chris Bohnert, Senior Vice President of Product at GovX. "At the same time, no one wants to upload sensitive documents on multiple sites just to access a military discount. GovX ID solves this problem for both the merchants and the deserving service members who are able to unlock great deals."

Once a member is verified through GovX ID, they can simply log in to verify their identity on any integrated website. This allows any merchant using Shopify to offer a safe and secure military discount. Many merchants today use unsecure or manual methods to verify customers' service records, with some relying on the honor system, opening them up to fraudulent discount use. With GovX ID, authentication is quick and secure, all data is encrypted end to end and members can unlock eligible discounts with the click of a button.

Currently, more than 3.5 million verified service members use GovX ID to access discounts from over a thousand partners, including MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL teams, entertainment events around the country like the Carolina Country Music Fest, and popular endurance races like Spartan Race and Tough Mudder.

When GovX.com was launched in 2011, the proprietary verification software was used to validate military and first responder affiliation in real time, controlling who could access the website, a protected e-commerce channel serving those with qualified service backgrounds. In the years following, GovX licensed the verification technology to partners to deploy their own protected discounts, and the software was eventually developed into the new GovX ID Shopify app.

"At GovX, we strongly believe that the men and women who serve our country deserve our thanks and support," said Bohnert. "And it's always been our vision to make military and first responder discounts more accessible online, no matter where you shop. The GovX ID app for Shopify allows us to fulfill that vision."

New Research Shines a Light on a Forgotten Generation - GenX Caregivers ''Sandwiched' Between Kids and Parents

Today, the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) in partnership with Caring Across Generations released Burning the Candle at Both Ends: Sandwich Generation Caregiving in the U.S. This new report illuminates the challenges facing working parents who are providing intergenerational care. More than 11 million Americans are caring for an adult family member due to health needs or disability, while also caring for children at home.

The report analyzes data from more than 300 Sandwich Generation caregivers, and compared to non-sandwich caregivers from a nationally representative dataset from the 2015 study, Caregiving in the U.S. (conducted initially by NAC and the AARP Public Policy Institute). The research firm, Greenwald & Associates, conducted the data analysis with input from a small Advisory Committee of nationally- and internationally-recognized researchers. Dr. Joe Caldwell from Brandeis University, Dr. Feylyn Lewis of the University of Sussex, and Dr. Margaret Longacre of Arcadia University reviewed the findings and provided perspectives from their fields of study. The report also includes caregiver vignettes and policy implications drawn from the quantitative findings.

Compared to other types of caregivers, the Sandwich Generation caregivers are younger, more ethnically diverse, and newer to caregiving than non-Sandwich Generation caregivers. Many represent Generation X and Millennials, who are launching careers and families while caring for an older relative.

Key findings highlighted some of the pain points:

"Families are squeezed, and they need help to balance work and home life," said C. Grace Whiting, J.D., President/CEO of the National Alliance for Caregiving. "National conversations are heating up on paid family and medical leave, universal childcare, and the need to expand long-term services and supports. Now is the time to invest in workplace flexibility and a robust national infrastructure that can support and augment care for the friends and family who need our care."

Data revealed that most Sandwich Caregivers supported programs that would supplement their income while they were caregiving or an earned income tax credit to compensate them for their work, even if these programs were unavailable or hard to access.

Other challenges align with potential workplace solutions. The data show that:

"So many of us are already dealing with the dual stresses of Sandwich Generation caregiving, and it will only get worse if we don't receive the support that we need," said Josephine Kalipeni, Policy Director of Caring Across Generations. "Caregiving doesn't have to be unsupported or isolating. Lawmakers have the opportunity now to make real change for our nation's caregivers. Together, we can build a holistic system that acknowledges our varied caregiving needs, across cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and that makes care supports accessible, affordable, and flexible for 21st-century families."

"Many characteristics and issues facing Sandwich Caregivers mirror those facing caregivers in general," said Joe Caldwell, Ph.D., of the Community Policy Living Center, Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University. "However, the report highlights some important differences, particularly greater time demands and potential implications for health and economic well-being. Moreover, not only are Sandwich Caregivers more racially/ethnically diverse, there is great variation within this population. The report reminds us of the need to develop policies and practices that are flexible and approach families holistically, using a person- and family-centered approach based on an assessment of their unique situation and needs."

NAC and Caring Across Generations will release the report in a national briefing with a live webcast. Hosted at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., the briefing will honor the contributions of caregivers ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and celebrate the role of friends and family in the spirit of National Family Caregivers Month. Caregivers with lived experience balancing work and intergenerational care needs will provide their perspectives alongside national policy experts and researchers.

Made possible with grant funding from MassMutual, the report and live cast will be available on Tuesday, November 26, at 9 AM ET. To watch live, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/NA4Caregiving. The report will be available at http://bit.ly/WorkCareSandwich. Be alert to read related news.

The Trade Group Recognized as an EXHIBITOR Magazine Portable Modular Awards Finalist in Three Categories

The Trade Group, an award winning, event marketing and creative design firm, is pleased to announce that it has been named a finalist in three categories for EXHIBITOR Magazine's Portable Modular Awards. The judging panel, comprised of marketing and design experts, evaluated entries based on aesthetics, functionality and innovation. Winners will be announced online and at EXHIBITORLIVE in March of 2020. Read latest news here.

According to Stephanie Chavez, Director of Marketing for The Trade Group, "To be recognized once again as a finalist for EXHIBITOR's Portable Modular Awards is indeed an honor. We are incredibly proud of our team and the unique and creative solutions they delivered for our diverse roster of clients in 2019."

For the category of Best Island Exhibit Less Than 600 square feet, The Trade Group was recognized for the 20'x20' island display utilized by bakery product manufacturer Bridor at the National Restaurant Association Show. The exhibit included a realistic looking and fully functioning kitchen with oven, cooling racks and freezer, as well as an underlit display case and working space for Bridor's chef.

The Trade Group was also named a finalist in the Best Island Exhibit Less Than 600 square feet category for the 20'x20' display designed for Google Nest smart home products, which was used at the Keller Williams MegaCamp show. Each day The Trade Group installed a different scene in the branded space—kitchen, home office and bedroom—to highlight the many ways Nest products could be used at home and in everyday life.

In the Best In-Line Exhibit category, The Trade Group earned a finalist nod for the 10'x20' display designed for Nissin, a Japanese food manufacturer that specializes in instant noodles. The in-line, used at TwitchCon 2019, included the same bright colors featured in the client's product packaging. The Trade Group also integrated a fun photo opp with life-size, LED-lit, hanging "noodles" that attendees were encouraged to share on social media.

"Each of these projects came with unique goals and challenges, which our creative team readily embraced. Online Shoppers Should be on the Lookout for eSkimmers, a Digital Version of Porch Pirates

In advance of the holiday shopping season, consumers throughout the United States are being warned of the prevalence of eSkimmers, a new breed of software hackers that infiltrate a shopping website and use malware to steal credit card or debit card information as the consumer enters it at point-of-sale. "At this time of the year, it's more important than ever that consumers protect themselves against this threat," said Monica Eaton-Cardone, a nationally known expert in risk reduction, revenue retention and merchant mediation. "Fraudsters have gone well beyond using skimming devices at ATMs and stealing boxes off porches. They've graduated to sophisticated methods to skim code on e-commerce web pages and capture information such as your name, date of birth, account numbers, passwords and more.". Read latest news here.

Experts warn that unlike other, cruder versions of cyber-crime, eSkimming is all but undetectable at the time that it occurs. To the end user, it appears that the transaction has completed without incident, and he or she has no way of knowing the extent of the theft, which involves not the loss of merchandise--as is the case when a "Porch Pirate" steals a box from a front porch--but of information, which is much more valuable. In most cases the consumer will even receive the product they ordered. Experts say the stealth nature of the theft is evidence of a deep familiarity with the payment processes of the sites that are hacked.

Companies that have reported the appearance of malicious payment codes of the type used in a common form of eSkimming include the online store for the National Baseball Hall of Fame, British Airways and Ticketmaster. Additionally, security was breached at some 6,500 online stores via code that researchers named "Magecart Attack," which, when embedded in a web page, scans for numbers and letters entered into fields on the page by the consumer. This includes credit card numbers, security codes, expiration dates and other pieces of personal information.

According to the FBI, which investigates reports of eSkimming and other cyber-crime, most eSkimming operations are based in Eastern Europe. Some operators sell the personal data on the dark web, while others use the information to fraudulently purchase and then sell merchandise at a profit. In most cases the deception isn't detected until well after the fact, making remediation more difficult.

While the FBI recommends that companies take steps to prevent e-Skimming--such as updating and patching all systems with the latest security, including anti-virus/anti-malware software to keep firewalls strong--consumers must be vigilant as well.

"There are a number of steps consumers can and should take to protect themselves," Eaton-Cardone said, beyond using secure passwords and never clicking on links in emails sent by unknown sources. These include not using a debit card to make online purchases, shopping on well-known, reputable sites, using two-factor identification on all devices and using single-use or "virtual" credit cards.

More info here.:

https://jessicapressreleases.blogspot.com/2018/05/eat-2-win-sports-nutrition-app-fills.html

"The most critical action consumers must take is to monitor their credit card and bank statements frequently and very closely for any strange purchases or activity," said Eaton-Cardone. "And if they find anything they don't recognize they should immediately contact the vendor."

Easton-Cardone also recommends that consumers activate transaction alerts on all credit cards as a way to catch fraudulent activity early.

More than one third of U.S. online shoppers will likely buy products on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, per new survey from RTB House

RTB House, a global company that provides state-of-the-art marketing solutions for top brands worldwide, today announced the results of a fresh consumer survey that support a prediction by eMarketer, who predicted that U.S. holiday sales this season will climb to an all-time high of more than $1 trillion.

The RTB House survey found that 38 percent of American consumers are likely to purchase a product online during Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday. Of that group, 62 percent say they're most likely to shop on Amazon during Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

The results are based off a consumer survey conducted via Google Surveys the week of Nov. 4th, 2019 of 1,000 U.S. consumers.

https://jessicapressreleases.blogspot.com/2018/05/netnumber-expands-number-portability.html

Other survey findings include:

"With so many media stories and a blitz of promotions that put everyone in a buying mood over a longer time period, extending special deals so they're a week-long event vs. a one-day sale can really boost revenues," said Gary Burtka, VP of U.S. operations at RTB House. "Brands need to play to deal-minded consumers and consider offering them real-time discounts to spur impulse purchases, and they definitely need to go mobile to capture Millennials, who are big holiday spenders. Gen Y has trended up to purchases of more than $400 each since 2017."

Overall, holiday sales represent about 20 percent of annual retail sales in the U.S., but that figure can be higher for some retailers, per the National Retail Federation. Hobby, toy and game stores report the highest share at about 30 percent.

According to RTB House's own global data based on thousands of client campaigns, brands see about a 30 percent boost in new customers during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, and sales volumes during the holiday season increase by about 78 percent. Conversion rates from online ad banners also increase by about 3.5X during November because shoppers are ready to buy. Read this for more information.
