Sunset World Group Increases Its Support to Breast Cancer Survivors

This year Grupo Sunset World continues its social commitment by increasing its level of participation with the Send Me on Vacation organization by donating 5 rooms for one week stays at Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, Spa & Nature Park. The direct beneficiaries of these stays are breast cancer survivors, women who come to the Riviera Maya to complete the healing process and feel alive again after having struggled so hard to regain their health.

"Once the treatment is finished, including surgery and chemotherapy, the next step is to heal the emotions, because fighting cancer is very draining," said Cathy Backus, Director of Send Me on Vacation. "Our organization has been giving emotional support to survivors for 9 years through programs that help them recover their inner beauty, strength and charm. Today we have a presence in 26 countries," she added.

In this case, the Send Me on Vacation program that will bring these breast cancer survivors to Hacienda Tres Ríos is called "The Journey of a Siren." After a week of relaxation and contact with nature, they will reveal their rediscovered beauty in a photo session. Send Me on Vacation will provide all the necessary equipment, from makeup and accessories to make-up artists and therapists, to turn these women into beautiful mermaids during a day of profound transformation.

Kitchen Habits: New Survey By Rouxbe Finds Time The No. 1 Barrier to Cooking More At Home

A new survey by Rouxbe, the leading online culinary school, found that time is the top barrier to cooking more at home, followed by not having enough space, not having people to cook for, and needing better kitchen tools. Interestingly, while barriers exist, the majority of people cook most of their meals at home: of the over 2,000 respondents, nearly 3 in 5 individuals eat dinner at home at least 4 nights a week.

"As a society we seem busier than we've ever been, so it's no surprise that time rose to the top as the key barrier to cooking at home," said Ken Rubin, Chief Culinary Officer at Rouxbe. "What many people overlook, however, is that the greater your culinary skills, the less time it takes to get a meal on the table. When we can pull dinner together without a recipe, improvise if we don't have a certain ingredient, or handle mishaps quickly and efficiently, cooking becomes second nature. The key is to obtain these baseline skills, which is what Rouxbe courses hope to instill."

The top-cited benefits of cooking at home are significant, and include saving money, eating healthier, and spending more quality time with friends and family. These results are in line with current trends. The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that the average household spends almost half of their food budget on eating out. As for cooking at home leading to healthier options, portion size is a key issue here. Even for those choosing healthy options, most restaurants serve portions that are two to three times larger than the U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommended portions.

When it comes to how individuals learned how to cook, lessons passed down from family top the list with over two-thirds of respondents noting that a close relative's kitchen is where they honed their skills. Just over 20 percent taught themselves through blogs, videos, and cookbooks.

While just 3 percent noted that they never learned how to cook, 18 percent cited not knowing how to cook as a barrier to cooking more at home, revealing a disconnect, likely due to learning some, but not sufficient, skills in the kitchen.

"Family traditions and recipes passed down are wonderful, but they don't often provide key culinary foundations that can make cooking second nature, especially as the way we eat and cook continues to shift with each generation," continued Rubin. "There is still a clear need to learn basic, fundamental skills that can be applied to everyday cooking."

Having people to cook for came in as the number three as a reason people don't cook more at home. With the number of people living alone increasing significantly over the second have of the last century, this makes some sense. In fact, in large cities across the country, almost half of households have just one resident. For Boomers, this is felt even more dramatically, as it is cited as the No. 2 reason they don't cook more.

Enthusem Connects Canon Printers with Hubspot Marketing Automation

Enthusem was invited to the second annual Canon Future Promotion Forum as a featured platform for facilitating Programmatic Print.

Over 1,000 Canon print partners and marketers attended the event at Canon's Customer Experience Center in Poing, Germany. A major focus was programmatic direct mail and how to empower commercial printers to automate direct mail from their customers' marketing automation platforms.

Direct mail has traditionally been difficult to execute and with more marketers moving their budgets to digital marketing campaigns, commercial printers are looking for ways to bridge the technology gap between online marketing and offline print.

Celebrity Homes: Jeff Bridges Sells His California Home To Neighbor Oprah Winfrey

When you're worth almost $3 billion and can easily say, "been there, done that, have that,". . . . what do you do with the rest of the money after the usual investments? For more than a decade, the super wealthy have been parking it in real estate. In fact, they're buying up a lot of the planet in the form of islands, vast ranches, resorts and glamorous homes. Yes, Oprah owns at least six homes currently after selling her Chicago and Atlanta homes. Lately, her focus has been on the Montecito neighborhood of Santa Barbara, where with the purchase of actor-friend Jeff Bridges' home, totals three including The Promised Land as she named her 40-acre main home and grounds - now worth about $90 million. She purchased the Bridges home after waiting for the price to be reduced from the original $7.495 million and ended up buying it for $6.85 million - the exact price Jeff and his wife, Susan Geston, paid for it five years ago. Oprah also owns homes in Maui, Hawaii, Orcas Island, Washington and a ski chalet in Telluride, Colorado.

The Bridges' 3,517-square-foot, two-bedroom, three-bath Spanish Revival-style home was originally built in 1919 by architect James Osborn Craig sited on four acres of gardens. Meticulously cared for and having undergone restorations and updates, it still has its original windows, doors, hardwood floors and five fireplaces. The kitchen and bathrooms were remodeled to bring them into the 21st century. The kitchen, with its new cabinetry and quartz countertops, adjoins a large family room. High ceilings, expansive windows and French doors illuminate the home with every room opening to lush gardens. Montecito is a sought-after neighborhood at the western tip of Santa Barbara with commanding views over the Pacific Ocean.
