Perkuto Tackles Enterprise’s Toughest Challenges with Launch of Perkuto Labs

Perkuto, the leading provider of Marketo-centric enterprise solutions in the Adobe ecosystem, today announced the launch of Perkuto Labs, the company's new enterprise research and innovation arm. The new division was born out of the partnership formed between Adobe, Microsoft, and SAP as part of the Open Data Initiative announced in September.

"You have these very sophisticated, rich application suites from SAP, from Adobe, from Microsoft. And the commitment you're hearing from the three of us is that we're going to unlock the data across all of these suites. There are no data silos. Think of all data as a continuous renewable resource," said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella during the announcement.

In just ten months since the Open Data Initiative announcement, there is already evidence that the three software giants are getting closer to bringing their vision to reality. CNBC reported that the companies recently demonstrated the software's most current functionality, including the ability to collect data from disparate sources, then send it to Microsoft Azure where artificial intelligence is able to make predictions based on the collective data.

"Imagine an enterprise world where any customer of SAP, Microsoft, and Adobe can combine data into an agreed-upon format then fully leverage that data inside with the Marketo Engage platform to provide customers with highly-personalized and memorable experiences. That's the world I want to live in and that's the world we're going to help create for our customers through Perkuto Labs," said Perkuto CEO Alexandre Pelletier.

"As the only Marketo Platinum partner to remain loyal to one single platform, Marketo Engage, we feel we need to do more than just implement and optimize the platform for customers. It's our duty to champion the use of Marketo throughout large enterprise organizations and to remove any barriers to entry if the customer is running Microsoft, SAP, or other Adobe products," said Michelle Miles, Perkuto's Vice President of Consulting Services.

She added, "We can't do that unless we're getting into the weeds of complex issues that these companies are facing every single day. Not only do we already have our best and brightest resources contributing, but very soon we're going to be announcing other companies that will be joining Perkuto Labs as our innovation partners, which will enhance and expedite this effort."

Perkuto Labs will begin accepting use case applications in September 2019, after the launch of Perkuto's new website. In the meantime, interested enterprises or innovation partners may contact labs(at)perkuto(dot)com for more information.

HIP Video Promo Presents: 88 Lo Releases Gritty, Forceful, and Honest New Music Video for "Nothins Changed"

About 88 LO

What does New York hip-hop sound like? It's gritty, forceful, and honest. That sound carries with it the steam of the subways and the rumble of the traffic over the bridges. A man who came from those Big Apple streets, 88 LO, incorporates that legendary East Coast hip-hop flavor in his works. The Shubanga Show Magazine assures us that 88 LO has "New York sounding like New York again." Influential DJ Kay Slay concurs: he added "Nothins Changed," 88 LO's latest single, to his Sirius/XM radio show playlists.

About "Nothins Changed"

The new single is just the latest example of the sound he's been cultivating with his 88 Music Group crew, a team of like-minded artists and guardians of the New York hip-hop tradition. They're doing what comes naturally - telling stories about their experiences and their struggles over beats that knock as hard as the Manhattan concrete. Rap fans felt the heat on 88 LO's slinky 2018 single "Betrayed"; the Millionaire Dreams Billionaire Nightmares mixtape, which featured Harlem rapper Dave East on the undeniable "Spray It," continued the winning streak.

"Nothins Changed" picks up right where 88 LO's prior singles left off – this is a lean, uncompromising track that gets straight to the point, grabs the listener by the collar, and doesn't let go. Traces of the rapper's Caribbean heritage are audible in his delivery, and the production suggests in-depth knowledge of contemporary hip-hop trends in the land beyond the George Washington Bridge. But make no mistake: this is about as New York as it gets, and in the best way possible.

About the video

If 88 LO is working on a clip with J.D. Films, you can bet there'll be some spectacular cars in the video. That was true for "Betrayed", and it's just as true for "Nothins Changed": 88 LO steps out of the suicide doors of a dazzling electric blue Lamborghini and into an equally stylish mansion. Meanwhile, his compatriot 88 Goldie sings the hook from the heart of the projects. Though his surroundings are rough, he's showered with love. 88 LO, by contrast showed his opulent house with a pair of menacing, lethally armed bodyguards. The message is clear – from the meanest streets to the swankiest addresses, pain and pleasure is everywhere.

Senate Judiciary Committee Passes CASE Act, Bipartisan Copyright Protection Bill

The fight for copyright protection has progressed on Capitol Hill as the CASE Act gained approval from the Senate Judiciary Committee. U.S. Sens. John Kennedy (R-La.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) announced that the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance the long-sought legislation.

The Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement (CASE) Act, S. 1273, establishes a small-claims process for photographers and other small-business owners/content creators who find their work infringed on by another party. S. 1273 follows the introduction of companion legislation earlier this year in the House by Reps. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, and Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.

Support for The CASE Act is pouring in from creators all over the country, including photographers like Anne Geddes, who traveled with PPA Members, the PPA Government Advocacy team, and other concerned groups to discuss copyright small-claims with the Senate Judiciary Committee ahead of the mark-up of the bill.

The groups consisted of creators and other representatives of the Copyright Alliance, American Continental Group (representing songwriters and authors), National Press Photographers Association, Graphic Artists Guild, American Society of Media Photographers, American Bar Association – Intellectual Property Section, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Authors Guild, Songwriters Guild of America, the US Chamber of Commerce, the Recording Academy, and Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America.

"Money and complexity of the court system should not be barriers for small business entrepreneurs and artists to sue copyright infringers, who are very obviously breaking the law," said Sen. Kennedy. "The CASE Act will ensure that Americans' creative spirit is preserved and protected."

The CASE Act now has 57 co-sponsors in the House and 15 in the Senate, making it the rare, bipartisan bill everyone can support. Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), and Chris Coons (D-Del.) joined as cosponsors of the legislation this week.

"Today the Senate Judiciary Committee passed the CASE Act…the first of four key votes before the legislation becomes reality," PPA CEO David Trust relayed to his staff, waiting for the news back at headquarters in Atlanta. "It took us 13 years to get to this point," Trust continued. "It was a big, big day on Capitol Hill...Today was a big day for PPA members and all American creators."

PPA encourages everyone to continue learning more about the issue of copyright small claims at http://www.ppa.com/smallclaims

WattBuy Raises $1.2 Million Round from Powerhouse Ventures, Eric Schmidt’s Foundation

WattBuy today announced that it has closed a $1.2M seed round with Powerhouse Ventures, as well as funding from Schmidt Futures, focused on expanding market access and deepening its data science capabilities.

WattBuy is now backed by clean energy venture fund Powerhouse Ventures, Fort Worth based Fort Ventures, as well as energy titans such as John Sherman (former CEO of Inergy, board member of Great Plains Energy) and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs like Justin Alanis (CEO of Rentlytics, sold to RealPage), and James Beshara (CEO of Tilt, sold to Airbnb).

Emily Kirsch, founder and managing director of Powerhouse Ventures said, "The global deregulated electricity market is enormous, and growing quickly. In the US alone, 60 million residential households and apartments are in deregulated markets, representing a $14 billion market. WattBuy has built a trusted platform with the right channel partners and necessary relationships with retail electricity providers (REPs), demonstrating a unique and scalable customer acquisition strategy and leveraging data to add value for users."

WattBuy also received funding from Schmidt Futures, a philanthropic initiative founded by Eric and Wendy Schmidt, to contribute to OpenEI (Open Energy Information), an open data initiative developed and maintained by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) with funding and support from the U.S. Department of Energy. Read this here.

"Schmidt Futures is thrilled to support WattBuy in their data collaborative with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)," said Kumar Garg, Senior Director for Schmidt Futures. "This partnership has the potential to help families save hundreds of dollars on electricity costs, support the adoption of renewable energy plans in deregulated states, and showcase the potential for open energy data."

Background on WattBuy

WattBuy, founded in August 2017, operates an electricity marketplace for residents to set up electricity plans in states where residents have the choice for who provides their electricity. They currently operate in Texas, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

As a part of their product, residents are able to enter their address and see personalized results for their homes to identify the best electricity plan to save money and go renewable.

WattBuy participated in Techstars' Kansas City Accelerator in June 2018 and this year was selected as one of nine companies in Moderne Venture's Passport Accelerator Program.

The company today is also announcing partnerships with Hello Alfred and Zego to help residents seamlessly choose electricity services when moving into a new apartment. These direct partnerships with real estate companies will further expand WattBuy's ability to help residents save on electricity costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

"Zego's vision to enhance the living experience through technology and services aligns with WattBuy's, so we are happy to partner with them to empower their residents to make more informed decisions about electricity costs," said Adam Blake, Founder of Zego.

WattBuy's founders, Naman Trivedi and Ben Hood, founded the company to combat the pervasive lack of transparency in the world of energy choice. Naman, who worked at the White House Office of Science and Tech Policy and Google, stated that "consumers have had limited visibility into electricity choice for the last two decades. With WattBuy, residents can finally make intelligent, data-driven decisions to save money and go renewable."
