An Employee Time Clock System That Integrates With QuickBooks Online

OnTheClock's employee time clock system integrates with QuickBooks Online to streamline payroll duties for Accountants and Business Owners. The simplicity between the two integrations allows tracking employees' hours worked easy, solves HR problems, and improves payroll accuracy.

"OnTheClock tracks our time and seamlessly with QuickBooks Online. It is fabulously useful and a great value for a small business owner." - OnTheClock & QuickBooks Online user.

How does it work?

The integration is very quick to do once an OnTheClock account has been set up. Below shows how easily the integration process is performed.

Once the accounts are connected, the user can then verify the time cards are correct in OnTheClock and send over the time cards by selecting 'Send to QuickBooks'. Then a message alert will appear about the successful transfer. Next, confirm the hours went over to QuickBooks Online by going to the report 'time activities by employee details' where this report can be used to create paychecks for payroll.

OnTheClock chose to integrate their time clock with QuickBooks Online for the convenience of the users.

"It just makes sense to have a product that improves the overall functionality of our services while making the customer's life easier," said Tim from OnTheClock.

Each account receives a 30-day free trial with OnTheClock so you can start saving time with your timecards and payroll responsibilities when you integrate your account with QuickBooks Online.

SecureMac Releases MacScan 3.2 Anti-Malware Security & Privacy Suite for MacOS

SecureMac has announced the latest version of their flagship macOS security app: MacScan 3.2. Company officials say that this release will deliver an important privacy improvement for the Safari browser, as well as providing users with some significant UI/UX enhancements.

The most notable change in MacScan 3.2 is that it now supports Full Disk Access in macOS 10.14 (Mojave), allowing users to clean Safari items using the app's Internet Clutter Cleanup functionality. This should come as welcome news to the many Mojave users concerned about privacy issues caused by tracking cookies in Safari.

As SecureMac CEO Nicholas Raba remarked, "As the majority of Mac users are using Safari as their primary browser, MacScan 3.2 will fill a significant gap in their ability to protect themselves from unwanted tracking. By providing a fast and easy way to scan for privacy threats in Safari, MacScan will allow users to protect their privacy or even blacklist certain tracking cookies if they choose."

The update comes as Apple itself is moving to take action on privacy issues in Safari. A new privacy standard for the browser, called "Privacy Preserving Ad Click Attribution", was announced several weeks ago on the WebKit blog. Though still in beta, the end goal of PPACA is to prevent advertisers from tracking and collecting excessive data on users who click on online ads. However, the proposed standard is not expected to go live until the end of 2019. In the meantime, Safari users will likely continue to rely on apps like MacScan to protect their privacy.

In addition to addressing privacy issues in Safari, MacScan 3.2 also brings some UI/UX improvements, as well as a minor bug fix that will ensure scan logs display properly in all versions of macOS.

Lead Developer Nicholas Ptacek summed up the development process underlying the changes this way: "Computer security has traditionally been viewed as something complicated and scary, so one of our goals with MacScan 3 has been to make the process of securing your Mac as easy as possible for computer users of any skill level. To that end, we've worked hard to provide an intuitive user interface so that our customers can spend less time worrying about security and more time getting things done on their Macs."

Because MacScan automatically checks for updates, licensed users of MacScan 3.1 will see the version 3.2 update when they launch the program. In addition, a DMG download of the latest version of the app will be made available on the SecureMac website.

As for the road ahead, SecureMac says they plan to continue working on updates and support for MacScan to make sure it's ready for the Fall 2019 release of macOS 10.15 (Catalina), announced by Apple at last week's Worldwide Developers Conference

Metrostudy Releases Q1 2019 New Pool Index (NPI) Findings

Metrostudy, a Hanley Wood company, announced today the release of its first quarter 2019 New Pool Index (NPI), detailing activity in the new in-ground pool installation industry. Read this here.

In the first quarter of 2019 the New Pool Index increased to a reading of 51.4, up 7.5 percent from one year earlier and up 1.5 percent from the previous quarter. The index has seen thirty-five consecutive quarters of year-over-year gains since activity hit a bottom in 2009. The NPI is forecast to continue increasing over the next few years, but growth rates will begin cooling in 2019. For 2019, Metrostudy expects the NPI to average year-over-year gains of 5.2 percent, before averaging softer gains of 0.6 percent in 2020.

"Pool builders remain busy on the strength of the economy and the ability of homeowners to leverage record levels of home equity. Equity-rich coastal markets continue to be hotspots for activity," said Mark Boud, Chief Economist at Metrostudy. "We forecast continued growth in new pool construction over the next few years; however, growth rates are expected to moderate, a trend that is in line with the late-innings of the housing cycle," says Boud.

Metrostudy produces the NPI to provide the industry visibility into local market pool activity, forecasted future activity, and potential demand. According to the company's first quarter report, 286 Metropolitan Statistical Areas are expected to see year-over-year growth in new pool projects in 2019, with these markets averaging 5.1 percent growth.

For more information on accessing the full quarterly report, please email Robb Coltrin at rcoltrin@metrostudy.com.

About the New Pool Index
The NPI is a quarterly measure of the level of pool installation activity in 381 metropolitan statistical areas (MSA) in the U.S., with the national composite reflecting the national level of activity. On the national level, a number above 100 indicates a level of pool activity higher than the level of activity in 2005, which was the peak of pool installs in the prior decade. Each MSA's activity index is computed independently based on that market's pool related data and shows the current level of activity in the specific MSA relative to the MSA's own history and relative to year 2005. Read related news now.

The index is produced through a statistical model that leverages detailed data on pool installation activity, including household level pool permits, existing pool locations, and survey of planned pool purchases. Quarterly historical results for the national composite and for each of the 381 Metropolitan Statistical Areas in the U.S. are available back to 2004. In addition, Metrostudy also produces annual estimates of pool project counts as well as forecasts of the quarterly index and annual project counts.

This summer, Atlantic Canada offers a collection of coastal road trip routes designed to introduce travelers to the diverse wildlife and local food scene of the region's four provinces, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Read here.

Each province provides road trippers a number of routes to explore its islands and peninsulas, including the trips highlighted below.

NEW BRUNSWICK

The Bay of Fundy, world-renowned for the highest tides on earth, tempts travelers with the five-day, 185-mile Fundy Wonders & Whales Route, starting in the historic city of Saint John for local cuisine and unique architecture, and ending in St. Stephen to learn about Canada's oldest candy company, the Ganong Bros. Road trippers can build sandcastles, kayak, go bird watching, and take a ferry to the alluring Fundy Isles. Whales breach in the bay and tidal beaches line the coast, creating pitstops that are full of natural wonders.

While taking the Fundy Wonders & Whales Route, adventurers can join the Tidal Trek Beach Crab Grab excursion hosted by the not-for-profit research and education facility, Huntsman Marine Science Centre, which engages local communities to discover more about the ocean. The nearby Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve allows travelers to view seabird nesting up close, and The Witless Bay Ecological Reserve boasts more than 260,000 pairs of the provincial bird, the Atlantic puffin. The peninsula is also home to the capital of St. John's, where the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Mistaken Point showcases deep-sea fossils dating more than 575 million years ago.

Adelaide's Honey Bee, Pollinator, and Wildlife Reserve in Goulds, St. John's offers The Honey Bee Hike designed to educate travelers on the fundamentals of low impact beekeeping. With the boreal forest and fields of wildflowers as the backdrop, visitors can observe honey bees foraging wild flowers and returning to their hives with the nectar. NOVA SCOTIA

A road trip across Nova Scotia's Northumberland Shore, the northern coast of the province along the Northumberland Straight, takes food, wine, and spirit-lovers to Bay Enterprises for U-Pick oysters and Sugar Moon Farm for homemade maple syrup. Jost Vineyards, the largest winery in Nova Scotia, is nestled in the coastal inlets of the Malagash Peninsula with the Tatamagouche Brewing Co. nearby. Prince Edward Island offers the Points East Coastal Drive, which takes road trippers through the fishing village of Murray Harbor and the white sand beaches of Panmure Island. The route passes through Point Prim Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse on the island that was built in 1845, and the province's famous sand dunes, internationally recognized for its rare marsh and bird species. While there, golfers can tee off at golf courses of Brudenell, Crowbush Cove, or Dundarave, and outdoor adventurers can walk the floating boardwalk at PEI National Park.

Along the Points East Coastal Drive, craft beer-fanatics will pass by Copper Bottom Brewing in Montague, located in the historic 1938 town hall and offering a taproom overlooking the Montague river. Live music is always featured by artists from the province, and it's the first brewery to open along the east coast of the province.
