PMG Makes 5G Predictions Ahead of Digital Health Summit at CES 2019

New Study by UNiDAYS shows Gen Z Redefines Health and Wellness

New Year's resolutions are staged to be more interesting this year as Gen Z, soon to be the largest group of consumers in the U.S., takes over. This group of teens and young adults believe healthfulness is more than losing a few pounds or hitting the gym.

According to a survey of more than 12,000 of its student members across the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand, UNiDAYS found that Gen Z believes in a holistic approach to health, incorporating physical fitness, healthy eating and mental well-being. This group of digital natives also uses technology to support wellness, with 65 percent of respondents using workout apps, often instead of expensive gym memberships. A majority of respondents also use food tracking or diet apps, and 28 percent depend on wearable technology to track workouts and eating. Click here.

Other top findings include Gen Z's focus on mental health -- 72 percent say managing stress and mental health is their most important health and wellness concern and 60 percent believe getting enough sleep is important. They are also overwhelmingly healthy eaters - 68 percent say eating a well-balanced diet as critical. Though 41 percent say they eat fast food at least weekly, that doesn't necessarily mean fries and burgers. For Gen Z, "fast food" can also mean quick, healthy, on-the-go meal options, such as salads, which 32 percent of respondents say is the go-to healthy meal.

"Generation Z commands up to $143 billion in U.S. spending power, and this offers a huge opportunity to marketers looking to capture this audience as customers," said Alex Gallagher chief strategy officer. "Health and fitness brands that want to capture their share need to abandon their categories and mirror Gen Z's holistic approach that incorporates physical and mental fitness, healthy eating, and bridges both digital and physical realms."

Additional Survey Findings:

For restaurant marketers, Gen Z names salad (32 percent), a smoothie (20 percent), a wrap (19 percent), sushi (16 percent), and a bowl (8 percent) as their top healthy food picks. Forty-one percent eat fast food at least weekly, but as the results show, burgers and fries are not necessarily on the menu. For Gen Z-ers, fast food can also mean quick and healthy.

North Estonia Medical Centre Expands Clinerion’s Patient Network Explorer Hospital Network in Estonia

North Estonia Medical Centre (NEMC) consists of seven clinics and 32 specialist centers, and is the most important caregiver in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn, as well as in the northern part of the country. As a tertiary care center, it covers two thirds of the population of Estonia. NEMC's team has over 4000 doctors, nurses, caregivers and other specialists. Over 500 of them are doctors and more than 150 are medical residents.

During 2017, about 35,000 inpatients and 306,000 outpatients were treated on 1,146 beds (52 ICCU/ICU beds) and about 27,700 operations were performed.

NEMC is a leading hospital in acute cardiac care, having the highest number of acute myocardial infarction patients treated among Estonian hospitals, offering 24/7 primary PCI service.

NEMC has a leading expertise in clinical trials in Estonia, where continuous education programs about GCP and clinical trials methodology have been provided for many years for different target groups – investigators, pharmacists, nurses and study coordinators. The first courses specifically for nurses and refresher courses for experienced investigators in Estonia were started at NEMC.

Petco Foundation Invests in Paws of War’s Life-Changing Work Supporting Service Animals

Paws of War of Nesconset, NY, announces it has been awarded a $15,000 grant investment from the Petco Foundation to support its new Vets to Vets Mobile Veterinary Clinic serving disabled veterans' pets and service dogs.

Paws of War is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to train and place shelter dogs to serve and provide independence to our U.S. military veterans that suffer from the emotional effects of war serving the United States. Since 2014, Paws of War has supported over 120 Veterans with service dogs rescued from kill shelters.

This grant was made possible through the Petco Foundation's annual Helping Heroes fundraising campaign, in partnership with Merrick Pet Care. Each October during the campaign, Petco customers are invited to donate online and in Petco stores across the country to support the life-changing work of service, therapy and working animals.
