Rockler Kicks Off Project Season with "Make-and-Take" Classes - Sessions Scheduled Nationwide Throughout October

To jumpstart the fall project and gift-making season, Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide will be offering hands-on "Make-and-Take" classes throughout October. Make-and-Take class participants can learn new woodworking skills while handcrafting items for their own use or to give as gifts.

Projects include a turned pen; a cribbage board; a whiskey barrel stave candle holder; and a custom knife. Participants can sign up for any or all of the classes, and take home their completed project after each class. Plans, videos and materials also will be available online for those who want to make the projects on their own.

"Make-and-Take classes are a great way for anyone to try their hand at woodworking," said Scott Ekman, Rockler's vice president of marketing. "No experience is necessary, and everyone leaves with a completed project and some new skills." Read latest news here.

All Rockler stores will offer the "Make-and-Take" classes, and a different project is scheduled for each week. Class size will be limited from three to six participants, so lots of one-on-one help will be available.

Each class will last 2 to 3 hours and will focus on a single project. In the pen turning class, they'll turn and finish a pen body on the lathe and assemble it with the included Manhattan style hardware kit. In the cribbage board class, they'll use sawing, routing and sanding techniques to create a cribbage game board. In the whiskey barrel stave candle holder class, they'll use drilling, sanding and finishing techniques to complete a unique centerpiece. In the knife-making class, they'll mount, shape and finish a custom wood handle/grip on a semi-skinner knife kit.

The cost each class is $50 and includes materials and supplies. More details and links to register for local classes are available at http://www.rockler.com/makeandtake.

PayGo Energy’s Mark O’Keefe Receives AppSheet Innovator Award

PayGo Energy's Head of Operations, Mark O'Keefe, receives AppSheet's Innovator award; an award that recognizes app creators for creating apps that change how work is done, influencing positive changes in organizations and the world.

PayGo Energy, a company based in Nairobi, is revolutionizing the way the world accesses clean fuel. While working in an informal settlement in Nairobi, the PayGo team noticed that households were spending more money to cook with dirty fuels, like charcoal and kerosene, than they would with gas. Their challenge: how to sell gas in small quantities so that everyone has access to clean fuel. Click here.

From the start, O'Keefe knew that he wanted to digitize the entire process. "Although it took a little bit longer to develop these processes and apps with AppSheet, in the long run I think it saved us a lot of time because of the way we could digitize every single process. Now every core component of our operations is digitized," said O'Keefe.

AppSheet's App Innovator award series shines a light on inspired people creating apps that make a difference in the workplace or the world. "Every day we learn about app creators from every sector—nonprofit, education, construction and more—that have had a significant impact on their business or organization through the development of apps that have changed how people get work done. In ways big and small, we marvel at the ingenuity of these innovators and the apps they create to solve a specific problem, address an unmet need, or change an existing process for the better. This award recognizes those creators as innovators in their fields," said Praveen Seshadri, CEO of AppSheet.

"Thank you for this opportunity and all of the support. The AppSheet platform made our digitization journey an effective way to manage all our processes," said O'Keefe. Read all the latest news.

About AppSheet
AppSheet is an intelligent no code platform used by both technical and non-technical users alike for the creation and distribution of apps. It is the platform of choice for over 200,000 app creators across the globe, in small- and medium-sized organizations as well as Fortune 500 companies. About PayGo Energy
A PayGo system is installed in a household, including a two-burner stove, cylinder and a smart meter that measures the amount of gas used. Customers access pay-per-use gas by mobile money—in amounts that make sense to them. The valve on the smart meter shuts down when credit runs out and instantly reopens with a new top up. With smart usage and location monitoring, the platform allows cylinders to be replaced before customers ever run out of gas. By removing barriers to adoption, PayGo Energy's technology and service has shown to hasten the speed of which customers transition away from solid fuels and start and keep on using clean cooking fuel.
