Like Sew Releases Beta Suite of APIs for Vendor Integrations with the Like Sew Point of Sale

Like Sew / Rain Retail Software, a cloud-based omnichannel point of sale and e-commerce solution provider, has announced the release of a suite of APIs that allows vendors to integrate with the Like Sew system to streamline and automate ordering and receiving processes. Robert Kaufman, United Notions, and EE Schenck are among the first vendors to implement the APIs. Read related news now.

"Our new vendor APIs make it possible for vendors to help retailers optimize their inventory by automatically creating Purchase/Receiving Orders in their Like Sew POS," states Sean Roylance, Like Sew founder and CEO. "Additionally, product details for new items purchased will automatically be added to retailers' POS, (product title, description, and images, etc.) The time savings and elimination of human error at these critical touch points is invaluable."

Like Sew also announced that they have now integrated over 100 vendor catalogs, with a combined 500,000+ quilting and sewing items, into the Like Sew system. This is a significant expansion upon catalogs they had previously integrated, which include 5 major industry vendors: United Notions, EE Schenck, Island Batik, Checker, and Brewer.

"Now that we have 100+ vendor catalogs integrated into Like Sew, retailers will save hundreds of hours. Adding a new product to their POS can now be done by simply scanning a product barcode while creating a new item to automatically populate product details including the title, description, manufacturer, ID numbers, image, etc. This also gives retailers website-ready products in seconds," states Roylance. Sean also noted that stores are able to add product data to their current product list through the integrated catalogs. More info here.

Operation Homefront Presents Cornerstone Award to Dollar Tree’s Chelle Davis

Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit serving America's military families®, has presented its Cornerstone Award to Chelle Davis, Dollar Tree, Inc. Operation Homefront presents the Cornerstone Award for outstanding contributions to the organization's mission to build strong, stable, and secure military families. The award is reserved for those individuals who have helped Operation Homefront transform how it serves military families and delivers impact. More info here.

Dollar Tree and its generous customers have provided millions of dollars and in-kind support to recurring programs through Operation Homefront since 2006. Moreover, Dollar Tree has provided more than $830,000 over 11 years to support Operation Homefront's Critical Financial Assistance program for military families in need.

Davis has served on the organization's regional advisory board on a voluntary basis and been the point person for Dollar Tree's partnership with Operation Homefront to support military families. The company is the leading partner in two of Operation Homefront's signature programs: Back-to-School Brigade and Holiday Toy Drive. For each of these programs, Dollar Tree's patrons have generously supported our military families by purchasing critical items at each of the company's more than 6,000 stores nationwide. Thanks to Davis's efforts, Operation Homefront's Back-To-School Brigade has provided more than 300,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to military children. Additionally, Davis has led Dollar Tree's "Joy of Giving" program for the company's employees. Continue reading.

"Under Chelle Davis's active leadership, our relationship with Dollar Tree has grown into a model of collaboration that allows us to make a real difference in the lives of our military families," said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., President and CEO of Operation Homefront. "Since 2006, Dollar Tree and their caring customers have made the back-to-school and holiday seasons better for tens of thousands of military kids, and made those times significantly less stressful for their parents. Chelle can take great pride in knowing she has played a significant and enduring role in helping us accomplish our mission to help military families have the opportunity to thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect." Read this for more information.

The Back-to-School Brigade provides military children with backpacks filled with school supplies, helping to relieve families of this cost and enabling them to use their income for other household expenses. In 2017, on average, families spent $500 per student for school supplies, a significant increase from $488 per student in 2016. The Back-to-School Brigade program is important because it helps to alleviate some of these financial costs for military families by providing backpacks with a variety of needed supplies, like pens, pencils, paper, scissors, and binders.

The Holiday Toy Drive brings the joy of the holiday season to military kids across the country. With its customer-driven campaigns, Dollar Tree has been a committed partner for more than a decade. With extended deployments and frequent relocations, many service members and their families face financial hardships and must forgo spending money on gifts.

Last Night Pet Fountain Discussion

Last night we had a monthly pet owners group gathering at my place. One of our members asked about a pet water fountain, and the answers from our members are quite interesting. These are the transcribe extracted from our VLOG discussion that I would like to share. Here you go.

Discussion Starter

Hello all! I'm thinking about getting my cat a Drinkwell Original Pet Fountain for his water dish. I've read that the continuous water movement encourages them to drink more and stay well hydrated, which is really needed with the heat and humidity of Hong Kong! I'm wondering if anyone else bought one and has any pros / cons to it? Is it worth the almost $40 price tag? Is it loud? Does it use a lot of energy? Any personal insights would be great to know! :D Thanks all!

Pearl

I got one for my dogs. Highly recommended. They definitely drink more water. There is a filter which is recommended to change every month (cost around $10 for 3 filters). I got my Drinkwell for $32 (if I remember correctly). It is cheaper to buy at online pet stores. Not loud, just very minor water falling noise. You will still need to clean the fountain once for while.

Katharina

We have a water fountain but different brand. Our cats love it!

Aniela

I got one too. It lasted about 3 years. I moved to a cheaper one after that and its just as effective. They like it better as not so noisy. I still have a bowl of water next to it as my wee flat faced cat cant fit into the bowl and hasnt yet worked out (in over 7 years and with 3 other cats leading the way) that one drinks from the fresh stuff bubbling out the top! :)

Denis

I have a rabbit, so I'm not sure if his experience is relevant.
Mine wasn't too keen, and kept "growling" at it!
He settled with the $2 water dish with an attached water bottle, instead.

Pooja

Highly recommended! I bought mine a Cat Mate drinking fountain for around $38. My cat was hospitalised twice for dehydration...You're essentially investing in better health, especially in this heat :) If your cat doesn't drink from it initially, like mine did, a sprinkle of silvervine powder into the water does the trick. Mine is not loud. A quiet hum, much softer than that of the fridge. Not much power used at all (I've seen no difference in electricity bill). Also, you can adjust the flow of the fountain for most of these models, which is a plus. I clean mine out about twice a week, replace filters monthly and top up water as and when needed.

That said, if your cat drinks enough from a regular bowl, dropping in an ice cube once in a while would be just as appreciated :)

Susan

My cat shares a basic water bowl with our dog so I can't comment either!

William

QPETS HAS A 1.8 L one only for 268, i am using it. Quiet.

William

The pump from different brands are similar actually except there is grid at the bottom of the plastic bowl that specific fit its brand. QPETS sells just the pump too. I used my last one for three years.

Anita

My 4 cats didn't take to it. I had to stop using it after one developed bad chin acne from the plastic material of the fountain. Chin acne is not uncommon when using plastic/acrylic dishes (I have to stick to either stainless steel or ceramic). I think it's worth a try if your cat doesn't drink enough as most cats do prefer running water.

Jessica

We bought this from whiskers and paws, it's stainless steel, much better than plastic, very quiet and easy to clean. I think it was $30 something, our cats love it, so worth the money!

Izan

I've been using "Petmate" for nearly three years now. No sound, doesn't affect the electricity bill at all, very convenient. The sound will be louder if it runs out of water. My BSH loves it, though the scenario in the pic happened for a good week or so. Curiosity level 99. 😣

Cindy

I have the Pioneer one like Jessica but you need to clean the pump regularly to keep it working. You can adjust the water flow and on high, it's quite noisy (not the pump but the fountain) I've had mine for about 6 months or more, but the pump doesn't look like it will last long.

Get Ugly Sweaters Joins Project Bread In 50th Annual Walk for Hunger

Last November, Boston-based company, Get Ugly Sweaters, partnered with Project Bread, an organization that strengthens local communities by promoting sustainable and reliable access to healthy food for all.

Since teaming up, Get Ugly Sweaters raised $3,000 dollars for Project Bread through the sale of their ugly Christmas sweaters. This money will be used to feed 6,000 people in need in the state of Massachusetts.

On Saturday, May 6th, Get Ugly Sweaters walked alongside thousands of smiling volunteers as they navigated the Walk's 20 mile route, which took the shape of the state of Massachusetts. "We were pumped to participate in Project Bread's Walk for Hunger," says Mercedez Lemieux, Get Ugly Sweaters team member. "Being a Finish Line Sponsor during our first year walking was an important and exciting opportunity for us to make an impact in our local community. We're so excited to help support such an important organization." Continue reading.

Over 10,000 runners and walkers showed up for Sunday's Walk for Hunger. Musical guests Keytar Bear, Express Lane Quartet and more spurred walkers on with their fervent performances.
