In the category of Video/Film/Corporate Image, the agency won the highest honor, Platinum, for its own company culture video "We Are Liquified Creative." In the Video/Film/Nonprofit category, Liquified Creative was awarded Gold for a video the agency produced in celebration of Leadership Anne Arundel's 25th anniversary, titled "Igniting Leadership." The third award Liquified Creative received was Gold in the Television (Broadcast & Cable) category for a commercial spot produced for The Giant National Capital BBQ Battle.

The MarCom awards recognize outstanding achievement by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design and production of marketing and communication materials and programs. Since its inception in 2004, MarCom has evolved into one of the largest, most-respected creative competitions in the world. Each year, about 6,000 print and digital entries are submitted from dozens of countries. Judges are professionals from within the industry who look for entries that exemplify a high standard of excellence and set the bar for others in the marketing, communications, and graphic design fields.

The awards Liquified Creative recently received highlight the growth and success the agency has experienced in the area of video production over the past couple years. Legal Benefits of Using a Surrogacy Agency for LGBTQ Intended Parents and Others are Highlighted by New Utah Legislation, says Global Surrogacy Services

A February 8 article on The Salt Lake Tribune reports on a new law being sponsored by Utah State Rep. Patrice Arent of Millcreek that would ensure state surrogacy laws would conform to a recent ruling by the Utah Supreme Court. The ruling found that a current law banning gay males from taking advantage of gestational surrogacy is in violation of the 14th amendment to the US Constitution. Los Angeles based surrogate agency Global Surrogacy Services says that the proposed new law is a positive step forward for the rights of intended parents of all orientations but it also points to the complexities of navigating the legal side of gestational surrogacy which affects all parents, including cisgender heterosexual couples as well as those who may be seeking out LGBTQ services.

Global Surrogacy Services says that the Utah situation points out how these laws can often differ greatly from state to state and nation to nation. Even in states like California that are relatively surrogacy and LGBTQ-friendly, dealing with the legal system and finding the right kind of legal assistance can easily overwhelm anyone. An agency that has experience guiding all kinds of intended parents through the aspects of the surrogacy process – and which knows where to find the appropriate legal counsel and what steps need to be taken – can greatly reduce the stress involved with the process.

The surrogacy firm notes that there a great many other sensitive areas associated with the process with possible medical and/or legal ramifications. Specifically, it notes that prospective surrogate mothers are very special people who are ready to perform an enormous service for others but, for their own good as well as for all other parties, they are vetted as part of a painstaking screening process that thoroughly takes into account their physical, emotional, and psychological readiness for a very important task. Afterward, the agency continues, a careful matching process ensues that allows intending parents and prospective surrogates to meet face to face with their potential surrogate. The agency explains that the purpose of the meeting is to ensure that all parties feel comfortable with the entire arrangement as well as with each other. Situations can vary a great deal in terms of such matters as how much time intended parents and surrogates may spend together but the important thing is that all parties know what to expect, says Global Surrogacy Services.

Berkeley Marine Robotics Receives Innovation Corps Grant from the National Science Foundation

Berkeley Marine Robotics has received an Innovation Corps (I-Corps™) grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for customer discovery of its work on developing autonomous underwater robotic systems for ocean exploration and marine conservation. This grant was awarded based on the progress and strength of their technology development and project team. Berkeley Marine Robotics aims to utilize this grant to conduct further market study and approach potential partners among subsea research and maritime service industries.

Oceans have long remained the final frontier of exploration despite covering 70% of our planet. More than 80% of that seafloor still remains unmapped and unexplored. One of the most significant technical challenges to exploration has been the limited underwater effectiveness of radio signals and other traditional communication methods. Existing equipment of manned-submersibles and tethered remote-operated vehicles is limited in scope and scale – and involves significant cost and risk factors.

Berkeley Marine Robotics is working to solve these hurdles through patent-pending technologies in underwater wireless communication and autonomous swarm maneuverability. Their team has developed an ultra-low-cost model of robotic devices that can work in tandem and generate large-scale marine data with machine learning for research and industry. They have tested prototypes in university labs and aim to put them to initial use-cases in underwater survey and inspection service applications.

I-Corps™ project team will be represented by Alexandre Immas, a PhD candidate at UC Berkeley focused on marine robotics with prior work experience in offshore and deep-sea wind turbines, and Jonathan Daves, a Stanford MBA with operational experience at several successful startups and currently an instructor at the corporate innovation program at Stanford University. Berkeley Marine Robotics is led by Sushil Tyagi, a graduate of I.I.T. Delhi and a Wharton MBA in finance. Tyagi was previously a marine engineer at Exponent Failure Analysis and had published research on wave-induced motion simulation of modular floating structures during his graduate studies in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering at UC Berkeley. Chicago football legends Robbie Gould, Patrick Mannelly, Jay Hilgenberg, Emery Moorehead and Otis Wilson will be featured on the Daily Herald Main Stage. Gould, a former Bears placekicker, recently scored eight points in the Super Bowl for the San Francisco 49ers.
