American IRA Discusses Combining Roth and Traditional Accounts in a Self-Directed IRA

The Self-Directed IRA can intimidate some of those investors new to the idea of retirement investing—especially if it sounds like a large commitment. But a recent post at American IRA highlighted how different accounts can work within a retirement strategy, oftentimes side-by-side, to create the idea combination of investments.

"It is not an either/or proposition," says the post. Investors can have both Self-Directed Roth IRAs and Self-Directed Solo 401(K) plans. In fact, a combination of both can sometimes be advantageous. For example, a Solo 401(K) plan comes with a high contribution limit, allowing investors to take advantage of the tax benefits right away. And because a Self-Directed Roth IRA has low limits, it does have benefits in another area—the money grows tax-free, as the taxes are paid up front.

Combining multiple retirement accounts might sound like an act of investment wizardry to some, but as the post notes, it can be as simple as opening up two accounts. Investors will need some base knowledge as to which accounts types are best for them, notes Jim Hitt, American IRA's CEO.

"It is not as if anyone should go into this and open up any old account because it sounds like a good idea," says Jim Hitt. "People should take their time to research and realize which account type or types might be best for them. But once an investor has an idea of that, they can take care of the paperwork rather easily. These are not high-barrier investment vehicles. They are simple accounts that just about anyone with earned income can open." Click here to read the latest news.

Investors who want to maximize their ability to retire should probably take advantage of some sort of retirement account, Jim Hitt notes, especially considering the tax-deferred benefits. These accounts "protect" money that is put away for retirement, helping investors keep more of the money they have contributed.

In Vitro Maturation: Maturing Immature Eggs Outside of the Ovaries Offers A Successful Fertility Option for Many

Increasing success with the way eggs are matured outside a person's ovaries has given new hope to women who have difficulty becoming pregnant, especially those with diseases or disorders that make use of conventional in vitro fertilization techniques less effective – or even risky.

https://jessicapressreleases.blogspot.com/2018/05/mstoner-inc-and-clients-win-six.html

So, states Ralf Zimmermann MD, reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist and medical director of Neway Fertility in New York City, who says the improved fertility process -- in vitro maturation (IVM) – is becoming the technique of choice for promoting pregnancy in patients with conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome, a common hormonal disorder, or in women with cancer or with limited eggs, often due to advanced age.

"Research also has demonstrated IVM's success in preserving healthy oocytes – immature ovum or egg cells – harvested from women facing cancer treatments that are likely to make them infertile," explains Dr. Zimmermann,

He cites comments made in 2017 by authors of a report in the journal, Reproductive Medicine and Biology, that improved cancer survival rates are increasing demand for fertility preservation. An estimated 20 percent of gynecologic cancers occur in women of reproductive age. Survivors of these cancers often undergo radiation and chemotherapy regimens that affect ovarian function.

Unlike in vitro fertilization in which a woman is directly given medications to stimulate egg production and maturation inside her ovaries, IVM involves harvesting immature eggs without stimulating the ovaries – or only minimally stimulating them – and then maturing the eggs in a laboratory using a protein-rich culture medium and small amounts of hormones, Dr. Zimmermann explains.

Once matured, the eggs are fertilized through intracytoplasmic sperm injection, in which one sperm is injected into each egg with a small needle. The resulting embryos can then be transferred immediately to the uterus or preserved through a freezing technique called vitrification, or "flash freezing", and introduced to the uterus later when a woman is ready to become pregnant.

"IVM is an important fertility alternative for women with polycystic ovarian syndrome because these patients are prone to developing ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) when exposed to the drugs used in traditional in vitro fertilization," says Dr. Zimmermann. OHSS occurs when fluid from the ovary shifts to other parts of the body, including abdomen and lungs. It is a common complication of fertility treatment and can develop into a serious – even fatal – disorder.

For women recovering from cancer, conventional in vitro fertilization drugs used to stimulate the ovaries may contain hormonal components that also stimulate any remaining cancer tissue in the body. "That's why IVM can be a more acceptable fertility approach for these patients," Dr. Zimmermann says.

Others who may benefit from IVM include women with limited remaining eggs and those who have blocked or removed fallopian tubes or suffer from ovulation problems or autoimmune diseases.

Besides the enhanced safety that IVM affords women with various disorders, the technique is oftentimes more convenient than in vitro fertilization and can be performed at lower cost.

Dr. Zimmermann concurs with researchers who say IVM still has "a long way to go," but says the technique continues to advance at an amazing rate. In fact, authors of a study published in August 2018 in the Journal of Ovarian Research report that, in women of reproductive age who have polycystic ovarian syndrome, IVM is proving to be a "convenient option" with a live birth rate like that of standard in vitro fertilization.

"Ongoing advancements in IVM techniques are leading to more successful outcomes," Dr. Zimmermann says. "As we learn more in our clinical practice, we will be better able to select patients who can achieve the highest results from IVM."

Bio: Dr. Ralf Zimmermann is dual board-certified in OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility. As Neway Fertility's Medical Director and fertility specialist, Dr. Ralf Zimmermann comes from an accomplished background in reproductive endocrinology and assisted reproductive technologies (ART), with a special interest in the psychological factors of infertility treatment. http://www.newayfertility.com

Angela Josephine Premieres Dazzling "Go Easy" Music Video on Popdust

Watch "Go Easy" on Popdust

Though she's long been associated with Traverse City, MI, Angela Josephine has a deep connection to Ireland. Motifs and melodies from the Celtic Isles are woven through her entire body of work. Sometimes these are subtle, and sometimes they're as bold as an Ulster landscape. They were there on A Restful Sense of Urgency, the landmark album that established her as one of the brightest voices of the resurgent Northern Michigan arts scene. They were audible on the 2006 set Grace Exhaled, and they were unmistakably present on Stone Bright Solid, Volume 1, a 2012 collaboration with the Ypsilanti, MI producer and songwriter Chris Bathgate. "I've been inspired by the Northern Michigan landscape," she says, "but just recently found out through ancestry that I may have connections to Northern Ireland. It makes the pull to that region even more discernible and my connection more profound."

Now comes Daylight (Stone Bright Solid, Volume 2), which has already garnered praise from Guitar Girl, Cross Rhythms, Innocent Words, and many other independent music publications. For the set, she's shot two gorgeous videos that showcase her embrace of the folk traditions of the British Isles. Helen Rollins, the Belfast-based director of "Go Easy", filmed the clip in Northern Ireland, and has made brilliant use of settings she knows well. And Josephine, who worked with the award-winning Irish choreographer Maureen Butler to create the videos, looks right at home. Read this for more information.

The new tracks continue Angela Josephine's artistic relationship with Bathgate, who returns to the producer's chair for Daylight. This time, he moves from behind the board to behind the mic: "Go Easy" is a duet between the sweet-voiced Bathgate and Josephine. The song showcases the star's remarkable versatility, her formidable instrumental skill, and her well-chronicled mastery of mood.

The video for the intimate "Go Easy" explores the breathtaking interior of Riddel's Warehouse, a historic building in Belfast associated with the cast iron trade. The Irish actor Phil Dixon takes the part sung on the recording by Chris Bathgate, and joins Josephine in a stately but emotionally suggestive dance on the floor of the old industrial building.

Strengthening Our Schools: Cancer Support Community CNJ Providing Support for Children in the Classroom Impacted by Cancer

Among the myriad issues facing children in schools across the country is the emotional, social and academic toll of cancer in the family. It is easy to understand and support a child who is diagnosed with cancer, but much harder to imagine the impact for a child whose parent, grandparent, or other loved one is facing the disease. Many times, schools are unaware the family is dealing with this significant health issue; it comes to the forefront after a student's grades drop, he or she misses classes, or, in extreme cases, acts out in the classroom. Be alert to the latest news.

Cancer Support Community Central New Jersey (CSCCNJ), located in Bedminster, NJ, understands the importance of providing support for these vulnerable students, as well as the school and childcare personnel with whom they spend the majority of their day. Many times, caregivers, teachers, guidance counselors and other school professionals will become "first responders" in this crisis when students approach them with news of a cancer diagnosis in the family.

It is important for school and childcare professionals to feel empowered with tools and knowledge, so, since 2008, CSCCNJ has offered Strengthening Our Schools (SOS) to provide the necessary tools and information to benefit these educators. This annual event, offered at no charge to any professional who interacts with children on a regular basis, is scheduled for October 19, 2018 at the Bridgewater Manor in Bridgewater, NJ. It is a day-long, regional conference that offers tools and information to assist school and childcare personnel in their work with families affected by cancer. Each participant will attend two lectures, offered by nationally-renowned medical oncologists, and a series of smaller workshops led by oncology social work and allied health professionals.

Strengthening Our Schools is the centerpiece of CSCCNJ's year-round efforts to address the significant unmet needs for adolescents and teens facing a cancer diagnosis or the diagnosis/death of a family member. Every week, there are almost 33,000 new cases of cancer, according to the American Cancer Society, and over 1,670 people will die every day, so the problem is unrelenting. In response, CSCCNJ offers school-based support groups during lunches or free periods. Since 2015, in response to the needs identified by school and community personnel at Strengthening Our Schools, CSCCNJ has started groups in five local high schools with plans to move into additional high schools and the first middle school in 2019.

The impact of school-based support groups is evident to the professionals who have seen the positive change in students. Coleen Butler, Director of Guidance, K-12 in the Somerset Hills School District, has seen the effect on her students at Bernards High School. "Our Teens Connect group resembles the characters from The Breakfast Club in that the members are all completely different, but they are connected by a circumstance that is very difficult—Cancer," Butler says, "I have watched The Athlete and The Brain, who might have never spoken to each other before, bond in a way that they support one another both in and out of group."

Read latest news here.:

https://jessicapressreleases.blogspot.com/2018/05/georgia-softworks-announces-telnet.html

Katherine Schaible, LSW, and Program Coordinator at CSCCNJ, facilitates some of these school-based support groups. Schaible notes, "It's important for these teens to know that they are not alone. The group helps to reduce feelings of isolation and provide a model for healthy coping skills that will carry these students throughout their lives." By addressing this life changing crisis at a critical state in their development, CSCCNJ can positively impact young people affected by cancer and teach them important coping skills that will last throughout their lifetime.

School-based support groups are open to both students whose loved ones are living with a cancer diagnosis and those who are bereaved. It is a place to connect with others who understand what they are experiencing. One student says, "Having a safe place to open up and where people can relate and give advice was so helpful."

Butler concludes, "As we have seen in The Breakfast Club, being a teenager is hard; but being a teenager whose life has been affected by cancer is even harder."
