The 20/22 Act Society Announces Disaster Relief Support to Bahamas

In the beginning of September, the 20/22 Act Society's Foundation took a step towards relieving the terrible situation brought by Hurricane Dorian to The Bahamas. In doing so, the 20/22 Act Foundation chose to support two critical areas that were severely affected by the Hurricane: humanitarian relief and animal welfare.

Donna Kiriaze, accountant at the Bahamas Humane Society, said, "I can't begin to tell you how grateful we are for your support. It will help us tremendously to face the challenges ahead. A huge thank you for your support at this devastating time for the Bahamian people and animals." The 20/22 Act Foundation granted $25,000 to Grand Bahama's primary animal sanctuary to help their animal transfer and sanitization efforts. Dogs and cats are being transferred to Nassau, Bahamas, where the hurricane's impact was not as severe as in Grand Bahama. At least 150 pets have also been shipped and made available for adoption in animal sanctuaries in Florida, United States.

Furthermore, Erin Gore, Vice President of Development at World Central Kitchen, said, "we are incredibly grateful for you. Just yesterday we passed the 100,000 meals served milestone. We have a long way to go to meet the need and you are now in this with us," in response to the 20/22 Act Foundation's $25,000 grant for hot food, water, and supplies provided directly to the Bahamian people affected. News reports say that World Central Kitchen continues to lead a massive effort of unloading and serving at least 500,000 pounds of nutritious meals, sandwiches, and drinking water to tens of thousands of people daily.

"Our thoughts are with the Bahamian people and animals in this terrible situation. We imagine how dire the situation out there can be from our experience in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria," said Robb Rill, President of the 20/22 Act Foundation. "We really hope our support makes a difference and, again, appreciate the efforts of Bahamian charities in getting this done."
