Pond5 Announces Plan to Build a New Marketplace of Premium Video Footage Shot With ProRes RAW

Global video marketplace Pond5 today announced a plan to create a new collection of royalty-free licensable video shot with Apple's recently released ProRes RAW codec.

Filmmakers working with cameras or gear that can capture ProRes RAW footage — such as Atomos monitor/recorders for selected large-sensor cameras and DJI's X7 — are encouraged to apply to the program now at pond5.com/proresraw. Those selected for the launch of the collection will have their work promoted to a global audience and will also become eligible to receive free footage preparation services from the Pond5 team.

The new initiative follows the launch of Pond5's RED collection, as well as the international expansion of the Pond5 DJI collection, a further recognition of the technology companies that enable cinematographers to create their most captivating work and fully realize their creative visions. It also offers the opportunity for filmmakers and video artists to repurpose the footage that didn't make the final cut on a particular project, giving it new life as creative content for other high-profile productions.

It allows our ProRes RAW customers to benefit from the most advanced RAW video format available today, on the leading platform for stock video footage. Within the next year, we expect that over 20 cameras will be able to deliver ProRes RAW. All footage contributor applications received via the form at pond5.com/proresraw will be considered for the launch of the new ProRes RAW collection on Pond5, currently planned for Fall 2019. Artists submitting are asked to provide a link to their work, along with details on which camera they shoot with. Both pre-existing and new work will be considered, as long as the artist fully owns the copyright, with submissions judged on quality, creativity, and category demand in the Pond5 marketplace.

New Picture Book Encourages Readers to See Situations Through a Different Lens

As a parent of a child with an autism spectrum disorder and an educator with a passion to make a difference for kids, Jacqueline Hughes felt the need for added insight and understanding toward the behaviors of children with special needs. This prompted her to pen "I Wish You Understood" (published by Archway Publishing), a picture book that encourages readers to see situations through a different lens.

"I Wish You Understood" is the story of a typical day in the life of a child growing up with an autism spectrum disorder. As a little girl, Lily's actions are constantly misunderstood. She cannot communicate why she behaves the way she does. At the same time, her mother struggles to understand Lily's behavior as much as Lily's longing to justify it.

Told from two perspectives — that of the girl and that of her mother — the book encourages readers to think before they react. Hughes believes that having different perceptions will help one to take a moment to reflect and consider alternate possibilities before drawing unfounded conclusions that can cause more harm than good.

"My goal is to help family members, friends, and fellow educators realize that there is a beauty in perception that is often overlooked. How we see things will determine what we see, and ultimately affect our interactions with children that are struggling inside much more than we can ever imagine. I hope to help build a bridge between these two worlds — neither one nor the other more real than the other," the author concludes.

The BVX16H video head supports up to 35 lb (16 kg) and the 100mm bowl tripod has a maximum load capacity of 132 lb (60 kg). The BVX25H video head supports up to 55 lb (25 kg) and the 100mm bowl tripod has a maximum load capacity of 132 lb (60 kg).

The BVX16CFK provides 8-steps (1-8) of counterbalance and the BVX25CFK has 16 individual steps of counterbalance allowing you to dial in the right amount of counterbalance required for each setup. Each step is repeatable which helps save time when changing lenses or adding accessories. The pan drag and tilt drag mechanisms each provide 6 individual steps (1-6) of drag adjustment to help fine tune the smooth movements.
