PaymentsSource Announces 2019’s Most Influential Women in Payments

PaymentsSource, SourceMedia's resource for payments professionals worldwide, is proud to announce the 25 Most Influential Women in Payments of 2019. PaymentsSource honors these executives for their ability to guide complex organizations through uncertain times while creating an environment that is welcoming to new talent.

Read here.:

https://jessicapressreleases.blogspot.com/2018/05/cobo-wallet-announces-pre-series.html

The payments industry is at the heart of innovation, but also vulnerable to disruption from outside forces — whether that means the regulatory uncertainty of Brexit or the cultural reckoning of #MeToo. This year stands to be a true test of leadership at many organizations.

"We are committed to recognizing the women who continually move their industry forward, as well as the leaders who support them," said SourceMedia chief executive Gemma Postlethwaite.

The Most Influential Women in Payments program, now in its seventh year, recognizes leaders as dynamic and innovative as the payments industry itself, including startups, investors, retailers, banks and payment networks from around the globe.

Payments executives from all backgrounds can draw lessons from the diverse initiatives spearheaded by these leaders. BillingTree's Christine Lee, for example, is bringing her digital acumen to bear on the still often archaic world of healthcare payments while Walmart's Karla Allen is steering the retail giant toward a completely new approach to mobile payments. And in a reflection of the global nature of the payments community, list newcomer Kikelomo Lawal, who was born in Nigeria and earned her law degree in the U.S., is driving a seismic shift at leading Canadian payments firm Interac.

For the first time, the editors of PaymentsSource have also recognized one woman for lifetime achievement: Ellen Richey, Visa Inc.'s chief enterprise risk officer, who plans to retire after a 40-year career in law and risk management, including 12 years at Visa and an earlier job working under Supreme Court Associate Justice Lewis Powell. PaymentsSource recognized Richey as one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Payments in 2016.

"A strong leader isn't just a good boss or a savvy technologist; she is also instrumental in shaping the culture at her organization," said Daniel Wolfe, Editor-in-Chief of PaymentsSource. "These executives lead by example through innovation as well as inclusion. Whether they work at a startup or a large global payment network, their presence inspires those around them."

The complete list can be viewed at PaymentsSource. PaymentsSource will recognize this year's honorees in a special ceremony at the annual Card Forum event on May 21, in New Orleans, Louisiana, where over 600 professionals from across the cards and payments industry will be in attendance. Lewis Obi Plastic Surgery Offers New SlimLipo™ Laser Procedure - 11 Year Follow Up

Dr. Lewis J. Obi, a board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Obi Plastic Surgery Clinic, is pleased to be among only seven plastic surgeons across the country to offer SlimLipo™, an advanced laser-assisted fat removal procedure that serves as a better, more comfortable alternative to traditional liposuction. SlimLipo™ is a safe and effective fat removal option for those who want the unsightly fat removed from their waist, tummy, legs, arms and under the chin. read more... Read here.

The above press release released almost 11 years ago has now withstood the test of time. To date, Dr Lewis Obi has treated almost 2000 patients with consistent results, short downtime and without a single major complication. Unfortunately for the public, SlimLipo™ branding, also known as LifeSculpt™, was terminated by a take over in 2014. CEO Joseph Caruso of Boston based Palomar Medical Technology sold his company to competitor Cynosure who manufactures Smart Lipo™.

As a veteran plastic surgeon and innovator in the areas of lasers and stem cell based procedures, Dr. Lewis Obi states "I have seen numerous technologies come and go in the area of body sculpting." French plastic surgeons first introduced traditional mechanical method of removing fat in the mid 1970's. By the 1980's liposuction became prevalent in the U.S. Dr. Obi states "I was never pleased with traditional liposuction procedures which is still the method of choice by the majority of U.S. plastic surgeons." Ultrasound and later lasers were used to assist in the removal of fat. Smart Lipo was one of the first laser assisted methods of removing fat in the U.S. SlimLipo™ (LifeSculpt™) by Palomar followed and proved to be the safest and most effective platform.

Recently, Cool Sculpting was acquired by Allergan and heavily marketed. Although fat freezing is performed externally without anesthesia, liquified fat (oil) is left behind and can be problematic. Also, multiple and often uncomfortable treatments may be required. With one SlimLipo™ treatment, Dr Obi is able to treat multiple and large body areas safely. SlimLipo™ delivers, dual wave lengths that simultaneously melts fat and significantly tightens skin. The liquified fat is completely removed with small cannulas with minimal bruising or pain. Therefore most patients return to normal activities the next day. To date, no other technology, short of invasive "tummy tucks" and thigh lifts has been able to tighten skin as effectively as SlimLipo™.

With SlimLipo™, no incisions nor stitches are necessary and long term scarring is rare. Twilight anesthesia is used and therefore recovery is quick and smooth. Patients may shower the next day and most patients return to work the following day. "CoolSculpt, Smart Lipo and traditional liposuction results rarely match those of SlimLipo" states Dr Obi. "Also, I was introduced to the Asian pioneers in the world of fat derived stem cells by Palomar. This led me to combining the use of body lasers with fat derived stem cells in many new and innovative procedures." said Dr Obi. An example is Dr. Obi's OPERA lift which combines non surgical laser tightening of the neck with large volume stem cell enhanced fat for a non-surgical facelift (OPERA Lift - chapter 29 "Stem Cells in Aesthetic Procedures by Springer publications).

EMA Webinar to Explain How to Optimize Application Performance with Real-time Change Awareness

Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), a leading IT and data management research and consulting firm, today announced it will host a webinar titled "Optimizing Application Performance Through Real-time Change Awareness," featuring Dennis Drogseth, vice president of research at EMA, and Sasha Gilenson, founder and chief executive officer at Evolven.

Although changes are the root causes behind most performance problems, many IT organizations still struggle with a haze of siloed tools and obsolete data in their efforts to integrate change and performance in a timely manner. Most APM-centric monitoring capabilities, while capturing top-down insights into infrastructure and application interdependencies, fall far short of recognizing how the myriad of changes made across large, complex infrastructures might impact business service performance. In fact, EMA consulting data indicates that more than 60% of planned or intended changes are the cause of performance outages, and the number only escalates when unintended changes to the application infrastructure are included.

Drawing from extensive EMA research, consulting and IT interviews, this webinar will provide attendees with a timely look at how IT is changing and why it is becoming increasingly imperative to find a way to blend change awareness with APM alerts. Click here.

Attendees will also learn more about:

The webinar is Wednesday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. Those who wish to attend can register at: http://info.enterprisemanagement.com/optimizing-app-performance-via-real-time-change-awareness-webinar-pr

NWEA Launches Educators for Equity Grant Program to Foster Equity in Educational Opportunity and Outcomes for PreK-12 Students

NWEA, the not-for-profit provider of assessment solutions, announced today the launch of its Educators for Equity Grant Program, a new initiative for helping schools foster academic growth and achievement for preK-12 students who face systemic barriers to academic opportunities. The program will award grants of up to $10,000 to schools, school districts, and non-profit organizations to help fund initiatives and programs designed to support the academic development of under-served students.

Educators, including teachers, principals, and education specialists, may apply for grant awards for their schools or districts to fund programs and activities that directly support the academic progress of students. This can include curricula as well as programs that support student engagement in the classroom; help facilitate dialogue amongst educators, students and families about high academic expectations; and provide needed academic supports, such as academically-focused after-school programs. For 2019, at least three grants in amounts up to $10,000 will be awarded.

"We are very excited about the launch of our first-ever NWEA grant program," said Chris Minnich, CEO, NWEA. "Our goal with this program is to support educators in their work to foster equity in educational opportunity and outcomes, so all students leave secondary education prepared with choices to further their academic growth and workforce participation. We look forward to working collaboratively with these schools and organizations to support student growth and achievement."

To be eligible for a grant, applicants must be a U.S. school serving students from pre-K through 12th grade and either a public school or not-for-profit organization. Applications will be evaluated on the extent to which the award will benefit students who face systemic barriers to academic opportunities, including students who identify as Black or African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, or Asian/Pacific Islander; students learning English and speaking a language other than English fluently; and students experiencing economic disadvantage. In addition, programs will be evaluated based on evidence base, equity mission, cultural relevance, and academic focus. Use of NWEA products and services is not required for eligibility and will not be considered when selecting grant recipients.

For more information on the NWEA Educators for Equity program or to apply, please visit http://www.nwea.org/equitygrant. The application deadline is June 30, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Read here.
