Thiel College Community Celebrates Connection to Mr. Rogers with Room Dedication

Thiel College leaders celebrated the College's ongoing relationship with iconic children's advocate and television host Fred Rogers with representatives of the McFeely-Rogers Foundation and about 15 preschoolers on Tuesday when they dedicated the Mister Fred Rogers Room in the James Pedas Communication Center.

"It is wonderful to have our young Pre-K students here to help us celebrate the visionary educator Fred Rogers H'69," Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D., said. "We celebrate the connection between Thiel College, Mister Rogers and the McFeely-Rogers Foundation. Mr. Rogers inspired us to be curious about the world and caring of our neighbors."

More than 50 people including students from Thiel College's campus preschool program attended the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony.

"It's a beautiful day at Thiel College," Executive Director of the McFeely-Rogers Foundation James Okonak said.

Students use the collaborative space in the state-of-the-art Pedas Center as a study or meeting room. Since the addition of the Mr. Rogers images, it has become a popular spot for student meetings, school officials said during the dedication. Images of Mr. Rogers cover the walls and windows of the room. The space includes important career highlights including snippets from his speech "Encouraging Creativity" which he delivered during his honorary degree ceremony at Thiel College in 1969. About a year-and-a-half after the debut of his television program, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, Thiel College awarded him his first honorary degree. More than 40 institutions of higher learning followed suit.

"Thiel College recognized his greatness early," said Thiel College Trustee Emeritus James McHugh '62, H'02. McHugh is from Mr. Rogers hometown of Latrobe, Pa. and was a friend of Rogers. Be alert to the latest news.

According to the Fred Rogers Archive, "Encouraging Creativity" was so popular that to meet the requests for it, they had copies printed in advance for immediate distribution. In his address, he admonished educators and society in general for forcing conformity on children and encouraged understanding and tolerance as children endeavored to find their gifts.

After receiving his honorary doctorate from Thiel College, Mr. Rogers created a scholarship for Westmoreland County students at the College. Katie McKeever '22, a first-year psychology major from Irwin, Pa., is a scholarship recipient and was one of the students participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday.

'Keepme' Launch Innovative New AI Tool To Dramatically Improve Membership Retention In The Health And Fitness Industry

Following 18 months of research and development, UK based 'Keepme' have announced the launch of a unique AI tool, designed specifically to revolutionise member retention for the health and fitness industry.

Aptly named, the 'Keepme' tool will provide gyms and health clubs with a conceptually refreshing and intelligently driven approach to proven member retention. The 'Keepme' tool, launched today, will see a broad spectrum of gyms, health and fitness clubs drastically change their approach to keeping valuable memberships. Through automated AI driven analytics, which use individual member data to identify patterns conducive with membership exits, the tool will allow client users to re-engage with customers and significantly increase retention, through the integrated communication suite.

In 2018, health and fitness industry body IHRSA published figures to show that the market is now worth £68 billion. With member subscriptions generating more than 80% of this revenue (and annual member retention at less than 60%), it is very clear that retention strategies are crucial to maintaining the lifeblood of fitness businesses and ensuring their continued success.

The unique 'Keepme' tool works by analysing individual member data to apply an algorithm score that is associated with a risk of leaving. Having proven accuracy of over 85%, the tool is designed to provide clients with in-depth and actionable insights, enabling fast and effective engagement to avoid losing the customer.         More info here.

Founder Ian Mullane has spent over two decades developing enterprise business applications and has significant experience in the health and fitness sector. Ian Mullane commented: "We identified that membership retention is a primary factor in the continuing financial viability of a fitness business. It's also one of the most resource intensive and time consuming to manage on a daily basis. That's why we've designed the 'Keepme' tool – to revolutionise the approach to keeping customers and maximising revenue streams effectively."

The 'Keepme' tool is available from today. For further information, please visit the official website at https://www.keepme.ai Read all the latest news.

Looking at supercategory sales performance across these 13 markets, the strongest dollar growth is coming from Dolls, which increased 14 percent to $3.84 billion; and the fastest growing supercategory is Youth Electronics, with a 16 percent increase reaching $528 million.

John Paciga Admits He Has 'No Alibi' in Exclusive Interview with PopDust

Read the full interview on PopDust

    From PopDust:

John Paciga dropped his new album No Alibi, a heady concoction of piano-driven pop and alt-rock.

Paciga, a self-described "theater geek and crazy Yale student," began piano lessons at age four, followed by musical theater in middle school. He recorded his first song in the eighth grade and, plague-ridden by the malady called music, hasn't slowed down since, dropping an EP and two albums in quick succession.

On his latest album, No Alibi, Paciga ramps his sound up to the next level, incorporating hard-hitting guitars to complement his flamboyant piano brilliance and catchy lyrics. Popdust got the chance to catch up with the 18-year-old prolific prodigy.
