Solbright Group Delivers End-to-End Energy Conservation Solutions One Year After Acquisition

It was roughly one year ago that the New Jersey-based Arkados Group Inc. Closed a previously announced acquisition of SolBright Renewable Energy LLC based in South Carolina to create Solbright Group Inc.

Today, the combined company is poised to make a major impact on a growing business segment and looks much different than it did five years ago when it was operating as two separate entities.

Initially SolBright was a provider of turnkey development, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the commercial, industrial and military solar photovoltaic (PV) markets, while Arkados was a software development and systems integration company enabling Internet of Things (IoT) applications for commercial and industrial customers.

For those unfamiliar, the IoT is a network of physical objects — devices, vehicles, buildings and other items embe dded with electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity — that collect and exchange data.

Today, Solbright Group is a multi-faceted energy services and technology company that leverages their proprietary BrightAI™ IoT platform with energy efficiency services in order to achieve sustainable results that provide their commercial and industrial clients with a positive return on investment.

By providing end-to-end energy conservation solutions, depending upon the size and scope of the projects they work on, Solbright can save their customers tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in energy cost over time.

And because some of Solbright's clients operate large facilities across industry verticals in the private, public and defense sectors, several high profile organizations have directly benefited from these energy management solutions including: New Jersey Transit, Walmart, the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marines.

When Arkados closed on th e purchase of Solbright last year, it paid $15 million in a combination of cash, debt and stock for essentially 100% of its assets including a backlog of about $40 million in distributed generation EPC projects and a large pipeline of other projects spread across the eastern U.S.

As a leader in sustainable energy, energy conservation solutions, and IoT technology, Solbright recognizes that businesses are leveraging the benefits of big data, real-time analytics and visualization to drive higher profitability. Their goals are to increase efficiency and productivity, enhance service to customers, reduce costs, improve safety and create new business opportunities.

The BrightAI™ software platform brings the IoT to commercial and industrial facilities, enabling a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription model for predictable, recurring revenue savings.

Solbright Group, Inc. Is an industrial automation and energy management company providing Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that help commercial and industrial facilities increase efficiency and reduce cost. They deliver technology solutions for building and machine automation and energy conservation that complement their energy conservation services such as LED lighting retrofits, HVAC system retrofits and solar engineering, procurement and construction services. Their focus is towards the development and commercialization of an IoT software platform that supports Big Data applications that complement their energy management services.

Junior League of Boston Creates Homelessness Prevention Fund via Women’s Lunch Place

The Junior League of Boston, a 110-year-old women's volunteer organization that improves the community through effective action of trained volunteers, announced that it successfully raised over $30,000 through its inaugural "Little Black Dress Initiative" program. The funds will go to the creation of the Junior League of Boston Homelessness Prevention Fund administered through Women's Lunch Place of Greater Boston and will help 19 women to restore their housing and help others to avoid homelessness.

"We are thrilled to be able to support Boston's women and families in such a meaningful and immediate way through our volunteer efforts," said JL Boston president Karen Page. "Our volunteers' passion for this cause enabled them to far exceed their initial fundraising goal of $12,500."

The Little Black Dress Initiative is a program developed by the Junior League of London and adopted successfully within many American Leagues, now including Boston. As part of the Little Black Dress Initiativ e, participants wear the same black dress for five consecutive days to illustrate the effects poverty can have on a woman's access to resources, her confidence and professional opportunities. The dress serves as a visual representation of the lack of choice for families living in poverty.

Sixty-three women, including both JL Boston members and supporters, individually fundraised as part of their commitment to the initiative, with a suggested participant commitment of $250. In addition, JL Boston hosted several supporting events during the program, including a kickoff fundraiser, member volunteer shifts at Women's Lunch Place, and a Fireside Chat about poverty in the Boston community featuring Elizabeth Keeley, Executive Director of the Women's Lunch Place.

"Partnering with the Junior League of Boston was an opportunity to highlight our organizations' commitment to helping women experiencing homelessness and poverty in Boston. We are grateful for JL of Boston's generous funding to help women find safe, affordable housing and to secure those who are at risk of homelessness," said Keeley.

About Junior League of Boston
The Junior League of Boston, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

About Women's Lunch Place of Greater Boston
Women's Lunch Place opened its doors in 1982 not only to feed and nourish Boston's women in need of a safe and welcoming place, but also to provide medical care and support for women in crisis or women struggling with domestic violence, mental illness, addiction, or the stress of being homeless. Women's Lunch Place also helps women who are pursuing employment, secure housi ng and other opportunities through their resource center. The mission of Women's Lunch Place is to care for Boston's most vulnerable women with dignity, foster their resilience, and empower them to pursue their dreams. 100% of the money raised during LBDI will go to The Junior League of Boston Homelessness Prevention Fund via the Women's Lunch Place, who will utilize the funds to select the deserving families and work to get them back into securing housing. http://www.womenslunchplace.org

Rob Lowe Hosts a New "On Demand" Segment on Integrating Technology in Schools

Rob Lowe, with an aim to educate the public and address various social issues, will host a future segment in the On Demand series to discuss technology integration in schools. This series mainly focuses on finding solutions to the most critical social and environmental issues affecting the present modern society.

This episode on technology-integration in schools will focus on positive attributes of technology and how seamless technology integration in the classroom education can improve student-teacher engagement and encourage an interactive project-based learning.

In this technologically advanced world, it is not uncommon to see the young kids using smart devices and cloud networks in daily practices. However, none of these is a part of our classroom education program. Effective tech integration may use smart devices, networks, and platforms of social media, various advanced software application, and Internet as a part of their student learning program.

While the idea of technology integration may seem very positive, parents and teachers find this idea very adverse against the old-school one-on-one classroom training. When technology integration is seamless and at its best, it will benefit both teacher and students by offering them an engaging platform to read, interact, share and even learn together.

Considering the impact of technology on the young generation, this technology-b ased learning integration in the classrooms may change the face of the classroom dynamics by encouraging students for a better and engaging learning.

In this episode of technology integration, Rob Lowe will host a segment that will emphasize on accessible and supporting technology changes that can improve curricular goals. A team of experts will share their best thoughts to initiate a willingness among the viewers in order to embrace these kinds of changes in our schools.
