Charles M. Iker, LCSW, ACSW, BCD, is a psychiatric social worker with thirty-five years of experience working with children who have suffered from the effects of divorce. As a father and a therapist who went through divorce and who watched the emotional impact it had on his child, and later on his stepson, he conceived and wrote Little Fergen's Fish Feelings.

The story is simple: Fergen is a happy little fish. He swims and plays with his sisters in the sea. He recommends that therapists and parents use Fergen as a psychological aid, to read to their patients or to their children. For parents in the process of divorcing, he suggests that each parent read Fergen to their children separately, to provide continuity and reinforcement.
