Translucent Portals to Launch Teacher's Partner

Teacher's Partner, a subscription website providing top-notch teaching tools and content, will open a call for content on July, 16, 2018. Created by Translucent Portals, Inc., the new site is dedicated to helping teachers unlock their students' full potential through resource sharing.

Offering resources created solely by and for K-12 classroom teachers, Teacher's Partner aims to provide high-quality materials for instruction and classroom management. "If it's supposed to be done in class, we want it for our site," said Tony Tomlinson, vice president of Translucent Portals. "We are deeply committed to providing proven, real-world solutions to teachers."

Teacher's Partner will limit membership to current K-12 teachers, retired teachers, professors of education from accredited institutions, and students in teacher preparatory programs.

"By limiting membership to those who are most intimately involved with education, we aim to create a professional community where teachers can interact with each other in a professional learning environment," Tomlinson explained.

Member teachers who develop content will be paid for licensing their material to the site. Like TV and pop stars, teachers will earn residuals every time their materials are downloaded or viewed. Initially, 40 percent of the site's total revenue will be split among the contributing teachers on a pro rata basis. Within 10 years, Teacher's Partner will direct 80 percent of gross revenues to the teachers. "We want to provide a strategy for teachers to develop and become united," said Tomlinson.

Much more than a repository for lesson plans and worksheets, Teacher's Partner will feature an interactive forum that enables teachers to post and answer questions related to education and to share their experiences, ranging from sage advice to amusing classroom anecdotes.

The site will also host teacher-created, education-related blogs and podcasts. "Teaching is a profession that has long lacked a voice," noted Tomlinson. "We wish to provide teachers with a forum to freely discuss their successes and problems."

The wide range of teacher-created educational materials on Teacher's Partner will include videos, PowerPoint Presentations, photos and audio files. Teacher's Partner will sponsor a variety of contests to acquire this content. "Multimedia content will be one of our primary areas of focus," said Tomlinson. "We want to encourage teachers to create and license high-interest materials to help all students learn."

Tomlinson said he expects the site to begin full operation shortly following the call for content. "We want to make sure we have a critical mass of exceptional materials before opening the site up for full participation," he said. In the meantime, a preliminary site is available for viewing at TeachersPartnerTest.com. To gain full access to the site, sign in using Test(at)test.com for the email address and 123 for the password.
